Indeed, a great interview. If we were/are ever to get back in the league, it has to be now and who better to take us there.

When you compare where the club is now to just before his appointment then this cannot be anything but excellent news. He is the most high profile manager I can remember TUFC getting and literally has not put a foot wrong since coming to Plainmoor. He is genuinely loved by the fanbase and in turn loves being here which is somewhat a rarity in football.
With speculation over him in respect of the recent Yeovil and Plymouth job vacancies the club have acted to keep him here on a more secure footing and while the contract length has been kept under wraps for commercial sensibilities I would hazard a guess it has been extended from all of this season to all of next.

We were extremely lucky - Cheltenaham's knee jerk dismissal of GJ came just at the right time and somebody at the football club made a proper footballing decision and went and got there man. I know they were struggling a bit at the time but not sure what made them decide to sack him after the success he had brought them. For sure hes his own man and very single minded. That's what has brought him so much success and hes sure to have rubbed a few up the wrong way in the past and he wont hang around if he doesn't feel hes getting the support his style of management needs.
Without doubt their loss was our gain.

He said something on the interview when talking about the clubs aim of getting back into the league along the lines of "with this new contract Clarke will expect two promotions now" so yeah I reckon you are right that this new deal takes him up to the end of next season

Mention of 'George' expecting two promotions in the video, not that I'd expect Clarke to turn down the chance of us going up again. It would be a very tall order but the ambition is clearly to get us back to the Football League, and Johnson would like to achieve it for sure. He's getting good backing both in terms of finance for player recruitment, and expenditure on facilities, the new playing surface etc.
More realistically, even bearing in mind Johnson's past success in the National League, I'd expect next season to be about learning, acclimatizing, and further strengthening, particularly if there should be some positive news indicating that local politics isn't intent on blocking the bigger project. A definitive season soon to start perhaps ....either bringing us optimism that we're witnessing a major stepping stone toward a serious tilt at winning promotion back to the Football League in season 20/21.....or acceptance that ambitions will have to be curtailed as the 'local' decision is that we will remain penned in at Plainmoor.
Fingers crossed that the more expansive view of our future will be allowed to progress.

Floridagull Indeed ! And let's hope if it was a tidy sum (if anyone knows the figure). And in addition the attractive winning football introduced and encouraged by Johnson brought about the substantial increase in attendance figures, the excellent Season ticket sales already achieved for the coming season, and knock on bonuses such as the sizeable increase in the market value of such things as perimeter advertising for the coming season. Matches already earmarked for national television exposure in the new season, have already allowed the club to increase the price tag they place on such things. Combined with our Chairman's loose grip on the purse strings, it results in Johnson happily declaring that he's yet to have a request turned down when financial backing has been needed. While Johnson rightly garnered a lot of praise for his excellent first season, it's well worth also crediting those with the foresight to get him onto the bus in the first place. Their decision making has been first class. I know I sometimes like to focus on those they've decided to sling off the bus (allegedly for bullying other passengers, being among the suspected offences ) and while that has been a positive step, the significant upturn in the quality of general management underlies it all. #ClimbingWithClarke
