link - following the end of the Matchday Ambassador Scheme the club have moved to replace this with Dominic Mee as Media and Supporter Liaison Co-ordinator. Although this is to be welcomed I cannot help but think that the club are only paying lip service to this role appointing an existing full time employee to combine this with his media role. Also no consultation with supporters about this which is not the best start and worth comparing this with the specifications in the Bristol CIty equivalent HERE and I know this is a championship club and every club is different but I will be seeing how this proceeds with interest.

I'm sure everyone wishes Dominic all the best as he goes about fulfilling this important role.
And thanks to rjdgull for providing a link that gives us an insight to some of the required skills as listed in the UEFA SLO handbook. The club may well have studied this in advance, and possibly some will speculate that certain recent changes may have been made in order to be more certain of abiding by the 'Political neutrality' requirement that is listed under Professional Skills.
A harmonious relationship between all factions that have the best interests of the club at heart is surely what we all seek, and therefore every possible cooperation to allow Dominic to do his job more effectively is what fans will want, and expect to see. To that end, and as rjdgull brings to our attention via the Bristol City example:
City’s SLO should attend all meetings of organised fans groups, e.g. Supporters Club & Trust and Senior Reds, unless the respective organisation indicates that it would prefer such attendance to be by invitation.
It's to be hoped that TUST have already extended an open invitation to Dominic to attend each and every meeting that they hold. Ideally it will have been possible for us to read confirmation of this in the imminently due TUST August newsletter.

I have met Dominic on quite a few occasions. He is friendly, professional in his demeanour and has an interest in and an affinity with Torquay United Football Club, so ticks many of the boxes. As Rob says though, appointing an employee is rather missing the point. I would imagine that Dominic will be far too busy with his match-day duties to engage with supporters. The point of a SLO would be to do just that and then pass on feedback to someone like Dominic to act upon. At least the club is seeing the need to appear to do something on this front. A small step in the right direction.

Kevin Rye quoted in that article was the then Supporters Direct representative who came down to Plainmoor for the open meeting that led to TUST first being formed.
