Johnson press callWill be interesting to see how we can change things up after our worse performance under Johnson with a combination of some poor performances together with half match fit players and newbies still integrating in the side. I do expect this to change though and any form of result will be a bonus going into the all important Christmas period.

Given recent performances and glaring shortcomings I dread listening to a game. A clean sheet will be most welcome. Defensively we're relegation fodder that area of our game MUST improve - consistency in that vital department is long overdue. The blame cannot be put solely at the door of our back line and keeper. Defending starts from the front and the midfield must get their act together and offer more protection. Imperative we get something tomorrow against a good side.

I used to drive past the Harrogate ground on a fairly regular basis before I moved to Yorkshire.
Never did I think we would be playing against them, other than in the FA Cup...where we lost if I remember correctly.
Never did I think I had more chance of falling pregnant with Rob's Love Child, than we have of beating them!

Am struggling to fathom the formation without it looking lightweight in midfield. Guessing Lewis is in at left back? Maybe? I’d probably bring Andrews into the centre to partner CLE with this side.

Confirmed. 1-0 down after 10 minutes. 1-0 down at HT. If my math is correct we need at least 2 to win.

Deflected goal off Cundy and behind early once again. HT 0-1 and not sounding at all threatening. Gary Johnston's fifteen month honeymoon period well and truly over though I still have faith he will turn things around. Far to many changes in the lineup, forced or otherwise. Completely lost our cohesion goal threat and belief and desperately looking for answers. No Hall Janneh or Medford Smith - no explanation - injured or dropped?
Dread listening we need to get out of this rut- 50 plus points for safety the only important target now.

Just because we discontinued the Terry Medford pictures here, Gary Johnson seems to have taken that as his cue to also discontinue our Terry's appearances in the team. Still 45 minutes to go so more than enough time to get back into things, and given the way results have been going, even bringing home a single point doesn't seem disastrous.

Six defeats on the trot now and another two conceded in open play. The run of nightmares continues can't see an end to it and were heading the wrong way. Somebody put the brakes on!!
Bringing in untried young players, an unproven at this level striker and expecting to play the same open style has a lot to do with why were looking so poor. GJ knows no other way to play it seems and when its not working has little room to change tactics. Oh for another Guy Branston or some experienced old heads who know how to organise and defend.

Thankfully FA Trophy next Saturday, so a little break from the League fixtures. It gives Hall a bit more time as his 54 minutes last week were obviously deemed surplus today or he has had a set back. CLE and Andrews have now had some minutes and will likely get some more next week, which can only be a good thing.
If Edwards remains unfit, then that loan must surely have run it’s course. Although as he is never in the matchday squad the thinking may be ‘what’s the harm’.
Terry and June Medford-Smith - Left out. Not working out? We miss Davis. We were always going to.
Koszela and Duku can go out to the level below to make way for a commanding centre half if Janneh is a short term concern. I’m actually surprised Koszela hasn’t already gone from whence Lewington came, tbh. I would imagine there is little interest other than ourselves in Janneh as his stock has gone down. But he offers more than Duku and Koszela at this present time. Lewington sounded decent when he came on. Duku hasn’t worked. Maybe some Conference South goals might change him around?
Slough maybe isn’t ready for loaning out and is benefitting from time with the squad and providing an option in training, I really don’t know. He’s got youth on his side and like Koszela is in that development stage.
Cundy sounds to have had another mare that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Manager, so I’m presently in favour of a change of personnel. However, trying Lewis - good at Woking in favoured position - might be a goer that may be preferable to the owner over recruiting a commanding centre back. Johnson would need more confidence in his loanee left back who he left out today for that to happen, mind.
The Cameron Cundy partnership has been disastrous, whichever way you look at it. Both players have potential, but as a pair on current form, it’s not working. Niate coming on early showed what Johnson thought about Cundy’s performance (admittedly up against a gnarled old pro in Stead) today.

Far to many inexperienced loanees - Medford Smith, McNulty, Cundy,( Better than Naite? your having a laugh) etc. Opie Edwards - great little player but wasting his time as a pro footballer constantly injured. Far to frail for this level.
Lewington - thought he was a rough and tough CF good at unsettling the opposition. Only reason I see for him being offered a contract was cover for the inevitable departure of Jamie Reid. If Reid goes we really are in the shit. Duku has gone by all accounts, posted on the TFF. Not sure Hall will be able to continue at this level for much longer either. Struggling to recover from injury and looked way off the pace last week. Dickson another who you would hope steady the ship but again injury prone and at the wrong end of his career. Only old head I see being worthy of his place and making an impact is Liam Davis. Missed badly.
Experience on the pitch needed pronto and a proper leader.

Duku has gone, Pete? Not seen that anywhere. Fair enough if he has as he has not done anything.
As for Cundy, him and Cameron were better than Niate at the lower level, but you may be right it is time to start Niate.
Yes, Hall probably won’t go beyond this season, but feel we really need him this season before that happens. He is a leader.
Dickson - Is he still playing left back at Truro? Edit: Yes, he is. Won 5-1 today. Rene Howe up front for the opposition.

Oh dear.
When does a blip become a crisis?
Six straight defeats would be into sacking territory for anyone other than Johnson.
Remember how one point from four games made it clear Nico needed sacking according to some? Remember the abuse Hargreaves got when a serious promotion challenge tailed off into a mid-table finish?
I do have faith in Johnson to turn this round but a play-off finish is looking more and more like a pipe dream.
Still baffled as to why Dickson has not been recalled to cover the injury crisis. I know he has no long-term future at the club but as an obvious experienced head in a crisis....
Playing Hall last week smacked of desperation. Nowhere near match fitness and too much to expect even half a game from him. I hope that rushing him back before he was ready has not caused a further setback. And we had an oven-ready (as another Johnson might have said) alternative experienced midfielder in Dickson at the end of a phone.
Buse formed a great partnership with Vincent but (as happens with many first year pros), you did feel he was overdue a rest from the firing line. But last week we played him and Hall - two holdiing midfielders not clear as to who was supposed to be holding and who had license to get forward. This week we had no holding midfielder. What a lightweight midfield with inevitable consequences. Lewis could have done a job in there.
Was Medford-Smith injured? Not sure he is National League ready anyway so he may well have been dropped. We really miss Davis. Again Dickson was an " oven ready" replacement.
I said earlier in the season that to me Cundy, Cameron, Niate and Lewis are all of a similar standard. I would be equally happy with any one of them alongside an experienced pro, but not happy that you can perm any two and make a sold pairing.
Was Janneh injured? You assume so. I was thinking before the game that him and Reidy as a pairing has not gelled this season as it did in the league below. Neither really looked fit last week, so I would have been tempted to leave one on the bench and play Whitfield in the hole anyway. But not without a holding midfielder who could win the ball.
Glad it is a Trophy game next week not league. I think it is essential we win though as seven defeats in a row would be even more confidence-sapping. But the important thing will be to get game time for Hall, Evans, Janneh, etc. Might also be a chance to look at a different centre back pairing.
Whatever the result, looking forward to the curry after with the famous Mr_W.
