It has been a really good series! In the end, the greater strength in depth has seen the England team come out well on top together with a resurgent Stuart Broad. Ironically, after a wash out today Windies call still draw the match and series and retain the Wisdom trophy so could still be nip and tuck. We need another of those Broad spells with just one wicket needed for 500.
I like the idea of the new Botham/Richards trophy, two of my childhood hero’s as I followed Somerset in the early 1980s.

Haha, it's the WISDEN trophy, named after a player in the 19th century who founded the almanack. The umpires in this match have been so finicky that I can easily see them ruling out a chunk of play because of drizzle, bad light or some other harmless intervention. If that happens and England are denied a well deserved win and also regaining the trophy, the perhaps it should be temporarily known as the Gough/Kettleborough Trophy.

Thankfully, a straight forward win with time to spare. Congratulations to Broad on his 500th test wicket, ironically getting the same batsman that was Anderson’s 500th wicket!

Cricket doing a pretty good job of killing itself off as a spectator sport. Start of play 12.30 the other day...off for lunch at 1.30. Sounds like the guy who comes round to fix my boiler. 11.00 start today...delayed as someone forgot to put down the sawdust!Off again a few minutes later. What's wrong with a 10.30 start in case of rain affected matches? Bit like our rail system...too hot..too cold...too windy..leaves on the track.
