Face in the crowd? That is my old friend the poster formerly known as Rags. A great achievement for Phil Sandercock to be named by his fellow pros in the PFA team. Just over a year later, his fellow pro Mike Green was handing him a free transfer. Shame Bestie was no longer at Stockport to test Phil's defensive qualities. Wyn Davies at centre-forward had contributed to Frank O'Farrell's sacking at Old Trafford. The fans did not take to him as a Man United player when Frank signed him. He had led Man City to the brink of the title the year before, good work undone when Malcolm Allison disrupted the shape of the team by signing Rodney Marsh. Frank would pick a workhorse over a show pony, but fans see these things differently. Steve Massey now the godfather of Cornish soccer. Has been linked with taking over Torquay United on more than one occasion. Easter weekend in London taking in games at Watford and Bournemouth. Sounds good to me. |

I would have thought signing Ted McDougall as the replacement for Bobby Charlton might have a bit more influence on Frank's fate at the Theatre of Dreams.
