I never realised the attendance was so big for that age. I remember that game for the crowd trouble (seeing Newport fans lob a brick into the Mini Stand) and Tommy Sermanni’s glorious lobbed goal for what I’m sure was our second in a 2-0 win.

I remember that game for the crowd trouble (seeing Newport fans lob a brick into the Mini Stand) Admittedly I had a habit of arriving at games five minutes late in those days but when I got there all the Newport were in the mini stand (with the police preventing any attempts by our fans to retake it). I had always assumed that Newport fans simply took it the same way Oxford fans had in the pre-season simply by turning up before anyone else did. So did the brick lobbing occur before the game started and Newport fans take the mini stand by force, or have you got your seasons mixed up?

Perhaps the brick was thrown out of the Mini Stand but I do remember seeing a brick 🧱
