Very early days yet but there seems to be a relentless focus on promotion with the further strengthening of the squad today. I missed a lot of the first half action but Aldershot seemed to be in the ascendancy until that poorly conceded goal just before half time. Completely different in the second half and Aldershot were just blown away and could not recover with the game more or less won at that point.

Game of two halves.
A stuttering stream of a stuttering performance made a doubly frustrating first half.
Thanks to their keeper for gifting us an equaliser. Seems he had been equally generous to Woking in the Cup.
Stream was fine in the second half. I wonder if Gary Johnson sent Asa Hall to sort it out. Streaming fixed, our team was transformed in the second half. The midfield two looked a bit exposed before the break but Asa made us a far more solid unit with Lemonheigh-Evans freed up. Wright not uncomfortable playing on his own with support joining. Very good to see Little have another decent run.
Bonus was Hartlepool dropping points at home to Altrincham.
Let’s hope they slip up again on Saturday.
Short of a striker on the bench but good to see Waters signed and hope he gets up to speed quickly.

I certainly got a few less WhatsApp messages in that second buffer free half!!
Totally outclassed them. Asa made us tick from the off. Brilliant tactical change by Johnson. Cold damp Tuesday nights on a bog of a pitch need and got that leadership.
We were awful in the first half and incredibly lucky to be level going into the half time bollocking. From about the 5th to 15th minute we were totally at 6’s and 7’s as Aldershot piled it on. They stayed on top throughout most of the remainder of the half.
Good to see Wright score a couple. I hadn’t been convinced he still had that in his armoury. He does. His ability to go it alone up top is useful presently with a dearth of striking talent and it will be good to see what Waters and Nelson also have to offer us in that department. Our midfield talent is nicely masking that deficient area, presently, as I see it. Umerah is still young and may yet have something about him other than a physical presence, but I’m yet to be impressed.
We were cracking in the second half. Looked a danger every time we advanced. We are looking good. Next in front of the BT cameras for yet another tough fixture. 15 points at this stage is a very good haul given who we have played.

After the poor service tonight I am looking forward to the BT coverage!

Johnson post match thoughts / love his comment - “it was just the matter of having a little word in their ear at half time and changing their mentality, as well as changing the shape and personnel.”

How fortunate we are to have such a brilliant manager...how many times could we say that in the last fifty years. 🙂
How fortunate we are to have such a brilliant owner...how many people have said that...well, just me if I remember correctly! 🤫

Top of the table early doors - a bit like scoring in the first minute of a match when you either try and hold out until the end or continue to push on and try and open an unassailable gap. Hope its the latter but its early days and there are some strong sides around us with similar ambitions. We all know GJ's philosophy by now and he wont be holding back and with yet another positive addition to bolster the squad emphasises he's getting some positive backing from above. The long journey to unbeaten Hartlepool will be a very stern test at the weekend. A proper test of our true credentials as was our opener against Stockport where we were a little fortunate to come away with all of the points. A fantastic comeback and second half but just what we expect of a Garry Jonhnson team to respond positively and push forward without fear.
No idea whats happening at Yeovil Town they simply cant buy a win - who would have imagined our opposing league positions before the start of the season?
