I still think it is more likely for the National League to continue and the North and South not to but no one knows for sure.... I agree, but not certain. I don't understand why level 2 cannot just be a voluntary promotion-only competition. Play if you want, don't play if you don't want. The threat of relegation would keep our league honest. Without it, you risk clubs becoming uncompetitive by shedding players to save money - with a distorting effect at the top end of the table.

1) What happens if the vote is split 15/15? Penalties? Don't really understand why Wrexham are abstaining. It effects them as much as anyone else whether the season continues - regardless of whether they are entitled to loans or grants.

Is it a question of their Trust not wanting to bind future Hollywood ownership one way or the other or have Ryan Reynolds and his mate now fully taken over? I’m sure it is confused by x owning a holding company that holds a majority share in y somewhere along the line. I saw that their Trust were quoted as the source of the suggestion they might abstain, but had thought they were owned by Ryan Reynolds and the one whose name I forget, already? Thankfully I feel I can post the observation without an extremely long reply straying off topic at this time? But does anyone else know the answer? As on the face of it, I agree. It seems odd.

As far I understand it Wrexham are abstaining because any loans available to the National League will be provided by Sport England, therefore Wrexham not being entitled to a loan decided to abstain. But the vote is not about accepting loans but about whether or not to continue the season, so I am wondering if they will reconsider now.

Don't think the takeover has fully gone through yet. Reynolds posted something the other day about not completing before the end of the transfer window so he was donating some money to enable some squad strengthening (Wrexham apparently have to abide by transfer window unlike the rest of us as they are governed by the Welsh FA!).

Thanks Jerry. I’d say that may be why they are reportedly abstaining. Shouldn’t have to mean that, though.

I know they said they would abstain from voting on the options over accepting loans which is fair enough. Not sure if they have really said that they would abstain from the straight vote on continuing or stopping.

link - interesting update of voting intentions, of publicly made views fairly even split about curtailing step 2 teams. To some extent, it would be premature to stop the season before knowing when and if crowds will be back.

Unless it’s a statement of ‘We voted for’ that suffices and nothing less for the purpose of this table?

As I expected from the step 2 clubs hoping to carry on; tactically voting against Resolution 1, in the hope that the step 1 clubs vote will be enough to defeat Resolution 4.

Parmenter probably was hoping it’s inclusion might hasten the demise of our League for the season. Some might suggest he needs to concentrate his attentions to avoiding stowaways on his company’s deliveries and pitch maintenance. I wouldn’t as it must be difficult for all Dover’s players and fans presently. I see the King’s Lynn Chairman who charged his fans an astronomical amount to watch our visit to them has made clear his intentions. A proud first season in the division. At least the reward will be the avoidance of relegation as the trap door is sealed up. Will be interesting to see what sort of sides are put out onto the field for some for the remainder of the season should the National League continue.

You may be interested to learn that the Dover chairman has announced this afternoon he has resigned as a National League board member citing he can no longer support its decisions.

He tried his hardest to influence it but couldn’t quite manage. Hopefully gives a good steer as to which way NLP voting is going. I’ll be sorry to see him go. Clearly a man of principle. Parmenter said “Even if the vote is to continue, I do not believe that the league will be able to continue in any credible form or with integrity for another five months”. Our FA Trophy quarter final falls on the day we were due to play at Dover, although I note others elsewhere have pondered whether that might have been postponed after a long trip in any event. My guess is he will have furloughed all higher earners by the rescheduled date, having not wanted the season to start in the first place, so we can only guess what Dover side on a Tuesday night we’ll be up against. Maybe some lads from his produce distribution business at the end of their shift and a couple of queuing lorry drivers on the bench? Perhaps the King’s Lynn Chairman and co-commentator might dip into the Weatherspoons market for end of season strengthening. £50 to get in for home fans covid permitting and a bottle of English brandy for English people free at the gate. Just a pity the DCMS don’t minute their meetings, really. As I suspect there lies the real villains of the peace and not any concerned and principled Chairmen.
