Another two in the Cambridge United team photo destined for managerial greatness. David Moyes at West Ham United and Steve Massey at....Helston Athletic ⚽️
An eagle eyed friend spotted it of course, I was still looking for the price of a Bovril! 😉

Looking at the manager's notes this is the game that John Dreyer, father of today's new signing Sam joined the club on loan from Oxford United.

Moyes has already been mentioned in this thread but I see England's Andy Sinton in the squad photo; apparently he signed for Brentford the day before this game.

Looking at the manager's notes this is the game that John Dreyer, father of today's new signing Sam joined the club on loan from Oxford United. John Dreyer is one of my weird "connections". I've always known he played on loan for us, yet he only played five games and I can't imagine I saw him play at all. My copy of The Official Centenary History of Torquay United shows that he played four games in December 1985 and one in January 86. At the very most, I might have gone to to see the Swindon game at Plainmoor on 28 December 1985 but I very much doubt it. So what can I remember him so vividly? Goodness only knows... <shrug>
