Our first play off game for nine years when we had that run of four play offs in five years between 2008 and 2012 so need to try to enjoy and savour what will be a tense occasion. Home advantage seems to give teams the edge even in socially distanced stadia and the club, particularly Johnson want those fans able to attend to be in the team - link. To this end TUST have got behind supporters being able to give their all and called for masks not having to be mandatory worn during the game itself as we have seen on the coverage from the first two play off games played. (See TUST thread) Our previous games against Notts this season both ended in draws with many Notts fans saying the match at Plainmoor was one of their best performances of the season. For both of these games we had a lot of key players out and to some extent are in a stronger position now with the defence particularly sorted and with Notts previously coming back twice from a goal down against Chesterfield, the back line will need to be strong if we do go in front. If any of our injured players do return, they will need to be fully fit for a battle and would rather they are rested for a later sub appearance or a potential final than break down early on in the game. Really looking forward to this one - COYY.

If I were a betting man, or should I say, if I were a betting man who hadn’t set a cool off period (a period within which this match falls) I would certainly be having a bet on this match. Well not so much the match, but on a certain player scoring in said match.
Mark Ellis to score…the bet of the day. And if you really want the icing on the cake, Mark Ellis to score the winning goal in injury time!
How many times have players returned to the club and there’s been a collective moan?
How many times have players not returned to the club and there’s been a collective moan…get ready to moan! 🧂

With a bit of luck, will have already scored his complimentary goal against us!

Still a veil of secrecy over our injured players as has been the case all season. Understandable to a point but extremely frustrating for supporters. |Is it really to our advantage? Nemane's broken foot somehow acquired in a training incident for instance was never released or made public. Ben Whitfield's knee injury sustained months ago but he was allowed to play on for almost a full half carrying it and and probably aggravating it further. One small cameo since and then disappeared again. Danny Wright a similar story. One short cameo and gone again for weeks and weeks with a similar cameo appearance that ended up with further time out. i don't believe we've managed the situation that well for whatever reason with little or nothing whatsoever in the way of news on those injuries it all gets very frustrating for supporters.

Two separate issues for me, Pete. I am content that we do not alert our knock-out opponents of our likely 11 and am happy the Manager keeps his cards close to his chest in that regard. The other issue is our management of injuries. I couldn’t say whether we have been unlucky or not. We have had a lot of injuries over the past two seasons, though. More than our fair share I would estimate.

Really looking forward to this ... and to taking the p*** out of Chelstongull after for missing the final while he visits his mother-in-law.
Perhaps he will cheer himself up with an upside down cream tea.
2004, 2021 .....
At least he did go in 2009, although I seem to remember a steward making sure he stayed seated as I ran up and down the steps after Sillsy nodded in Carlisle's cross.

Thank you for those kind words, I'm welling up as I type, tears on the keyboard. Normally I would be down at missing the final, but cannot see us beating Notts, let alone Stockport in the final. If Torquay beat Notts, I'll buy you a steak sizzler and if they don't, you can buy me a chicken sizzler. Someone posted that Notts would beat us 5 - 0, I may pop down to William Hill and have half-a-crown on that result. Can't believe anyone would liked your post, sad days indeed

Why does the run up to this match feel more like a meeting with Albert Pierrepoint rather than what it is…existence rather than extinction?
I remember all the razzmatazz (always wanted to use that word) when we went to the above mentioned match at Wembley…it was full on.
I know this isn’t Wembley or the final…although it could be for us.
Could it be that people have at last realised what a monumental ‘Cock-Up’ we made this season! 🦧

Had best wishes for this match from a Derby fan this morning. He actually works in support for the company which hosts this site’s domain name and was just giving me a courtesy call. Originally from Nottinghamshire so knew about their game. Seen Derby play at Wembley in the play offs 3 times with just the one promotion so knows all about the roller coaster ride of this process.

I personally hope that all supporters will be wearing masks tomorrow. I appreciate that some may well take them off but please show respect to fans masked up and please remember the minimum one metre rule . We all saw fans not wearing masks last weekend on the tele and unfortunately the social distancing tends to go out of the window when this happens as well. Stay safe ! Use a mask !
