Hopefully news of loan signings soon?Looks like we need a centre half and a striker. Probably more in need of a central defender looking at the result yesterday despite the usual mantra of let’s see where we are after 10 games. Looks like we were quite close to getting Sherring back but he made his EFL debut yesterday, helping keep a clean sheet and the win saw them move up to 2nd place which is an automatic promotion spot in league one. Good luck to him but means we are now a little short in that area. Only seen our home games which have been dreadful but do not feel it was the fault of the strikers in those matches. Paradoxically our away form is actually quite good, average of two points a game, despite being down to 10 men for most of the first game where Wright scored with the midfield contributing to all four goals at Maidenhead. Definitely part of the reason for the slow start were the preseason injuries to Hall and CLE and nice to see them get more minutes in their legs with the latter combining well with Little which has rarely happened over the last two years. 7 starters from last season with Halstead, Omar, Lapslie and Holman being the four new boys trying to integrate themselves into the starting XI.,,,

Couldn’t be arsed to start a new thread but I see for the second week running the ‘Torbay Weekly’ hasn’t a match report - very poor indeed ☹️

Players' ages (taken from Soccerway) tell the story.
We are a sandwich with no filling.
You could say 25-30 is prime age.
We only had Lapslie at 25 until we signed Addai at 27. Five old men and 16 kids in a squad of 23.
D. Wright 37 D. Moxey 35 A. Hall 34 m. Halstead 31 D. Holman 31 A. Addai 27 T. Lapslie 25 A. Little 24 C. Lemonheigh-Evans 24 C. Johnson 23 B. Wynter 23 J. Andrews 23 m. Brzozowski 22 A. Omar 22 D. Martin 22 J. Lewis 21 K. O'Connell 21 L. Slough 20 G. Rogers 20 O. Koszela 19 K. Lolos 19 S. Piper 18 A. Moyse 18

‘Keeper aside a similar spread of age as last season. The new signings just aren’t as good as Randell, Sherring, Nemane, Cameron and Whitfield. Quite pleased with the signing of Addai and Lolos sounds as though he has promise. We are bloody desparate for a centre back.

It's a very physical league. Always useful to have big, strong players in the squad.

Need an ugly leader on the pitch IMHO one who leads the side from the back, preferably center back. Cameron and Warren who admittedly had his injuries and had lost his legs a bit were both in that mold. The back central pairing are just too young and inexperienced but any one of them may perform far better with someone who knows the game and the tricks of more street wise opponents better. I was concerned when Omar was so over the top with his celebrations and running the length of the pitch to hug our players when we scored in the pre season friendlies. Ok he made an impression on some but I would sooner see a more straight faced determined serious side. Guy Branston was seen laughing his head off!. Joe Lewis - well we know how good he can be but has looked shaky along side Omar. Is central defence really his best position? Doesnt look as comfortable as Sam Sheriing, yet one more big miss. In midfield we need to get back that good mix we had for so long last season. The pace and trickery of of Whitfield and Nemane won us a lot of points and put opposing teams on the back foot for long periods pressing defenders high up the pitch also getting up and down the pitch better to help out the wing backs which has been so obviously missing from our current play. As Rob says its clear as day that there is no one here now to match the skill and fight of Randell. Covalan another one who got better with games and earned his shot at league football.
Think what you will the exodus has done enormous damage to the squad and GJ will have a big job on his hands to get the squad back to a decent technical and more balanced level but he has proved to be the best so I await changes to target the very obvious weak areas.

What happened to Brzozowksi? Is he injured? Nope, on the bench and think with our defensive “issues” that Johnson wanted someone more experienced. If it goes well would not be surprised to see MacDonald to stay for the rest of the season.

Thanks rjdgull...guess this won't have helped Brzozowski's confidence, but can understand GJs reasoning. Just noticed...Umerah and Waters have scored 11 goals between them this season.Unbelievable.

Indeed. Think Little is our top scorer with 3. Just one each for Wright and Lolas which goes some way to explaining our poor start.

link - Nice to see the club are reporting on our youngsters out on loan I say try to make it impact at a lower level. Obviously Koszela is the one to keep an eye on and maybe closest to getting into our matchday squad.
