Here we go again and would have thought that to both CLE and Lewis are the ones most likely to be already contracted for next year.
So contracts will have been offered to the following with most agreeing to the terms apart from four who are still considering, which probably means eight have agreed terms. As Wynter is buying a house in Torquay then very likely he is staying.
MacDonald
Slough Wynter Moxey Cameron
Little Hall Whitfield Nemane Andrew’s
Wright Koszela Boden?

Think one or two may move on but from what Gary was suggesting he has decent and exciting signings in the pipeline. Without doubt he would have planned well ahead way before he knew the outcome of the final. Sad to lose those that contributed so much but I totally understand the reasoning and to further improve the quality in the squad. Must have been a tough call releasing, the likes of Matt Buse, Billy Waters, Garry Warren, Liam Davis etc such good professionals who have always bought into the Johnson project but we will need to further improve the level once again for an even tougher challenge ahead.
Of those in the list there are three old hands at the wrong end of their careers but will surely continue to contribute for at least one more campaign. Boden I feel isn't quite the standard or type that GJ sees as along term so I don't see him being offered a contract.
The big question is who else are we possibly going to lose? I think if we lost Cameron, Whitfield, Nemanee and Connor gets an offer he cant refuse we could be in trouble - but hey we have Garry the magician in charge don't we??!!

Disappointed that Covolan has moved on but I would expect GJ would have known about this in advance, or at least Covolan should have told him out of respect. Never been a fan of MacDonald even in NLS, too many close calls that he got away with because of the quality of the opposition, so hopefully GJ was already looking into this. I would imagine that any manager worth his salt has a good idea of who will accept and who will decline new deals at this time of year. Onwards and upwards.

Kyle Cameron off to Exeter City apparently ⚽️ Thays a shame but he is replacable. We went through a significant part of the season without him and still looked solid at the back.

What happens when a good side fails to get to the next level, the domino effect, how many more? Very disappointing for all but cant blame the players for wanting to move up to a higher level. Always difficult to replace your best players have to wait and see who else will get restless and follow suite. A minor squad overhaul that may turn into a major one and that doesn't bode well for our chances next season.

Kyle Cameron off to Exeter City apparently ⚽️ Nope, Notts County. Which I find odd, because surely this would have been in the works before Sunday, ie before our destiny/fate was known. Had we been promoted would he have still home to Meadow Lane?

Had we been promoted would he have still home to Meadow Lane? Think he would still be with us if in the EFL where we could offer more money of course and in a bigger shop window and Notts was probably plan B. It was ever thus with our club when we had a bit of success where we generally have younger upcoming players. It may open up a slot for Moxey to play on the left side of defence but will have to wait and see how our recruitment pans out. Giving players like Cameron the opportunity to develop and be in the shop window where other bigger clubs take notice can only be a good thing when it comes to Johnson recruiting players. Success breeds success as the saying goes.

To some extent you need a bit of a overhaul and fresh blood in the building after the disappointment of failing to get promoted twice in one season! Having said that, agree you need the nucleus of a good side in place, contracts have been offered to 12, looks like between 8 & 11 will accept to add to two top quality players under contract which is a good start.

Who are the two still under contract, Rob?

Proper prick then and I hope nobody claps him when he runs out at Plainmoor next season, as I equally hope that whoever is playing for us next season give him a good kicking! He is not actually that good. Didn't get us promoted. 😉

Disappointing we don't have players under contract it would soften the blow if they commanded a fee or am I being a bit nieve here ? Cant imagine GJ is overjoyed with the news that Kyle is leaving for an arch rival and its a real kick in the nuts for supporters of the club though we have no idea if he wanted to get back closer to his family in the North East. With two gone now Im just hoping that there isn't a knock on effect and more will follow suite.
It's been a bloody miserable and utterly disheartening week so far. Desperately need some good news soon.
