Back at Plainmoor again for the first time since that great win against Notts County playing against another Southern League team for the second time in the space of 3 days. Looks like fans have the option of streaming this game which is good for exiles and away fans alike plus those concerned about covid.
With a few players being pinged and the squad not yet complete it is not the ideal preparation with some playing more minutes than envisaged and others yet to start with only 4 more games to go, 2 of which are in the next week. I take some comfort that there wasn’t a trialist in central defence and Johnson probably has this position in hand.
Lots of familiar faces with Truro who are managed by former Argyle man Wotton with Hamon and Dickson plus former youth players Ed Palmer and Niall Thompson.

link - looks like the pinged trio will be back so hasn’t affected our build up and means up to full strength against Plymouth.

I thought it was a workmanlike performance today where the team had to defend well for big chunks of the game to ultimately end up with a good win but still at the stage of preseason where they are finding their feet, form and fitness. After his isolation period, Asa wasn’t even fit enough to make the bench with Little and then late on Andrews wearing the Captain’s armband.
We did score early on after a freekick saw the ball drop to CLE at the far post who then chipped the ball across the goal where Wright was waiting to pounce with a looping header over Hamon. After some good work Lapslie was taken off, more precautionary as he wanted to continue, it did see Lolos come on and CLE move back to midfield. The trailist, number 14, looked pretty sharp on the right before being replaced by Wynter at half time and wouldn’t be surprised to see him again.
Brzozowski was kept busy in goal, made some good saves, found a few corners tricky to deal with and Truro thought they had scored when the ball was cleared off our line. Thought Dan Martin had a good game and stood out, controlled the ball well when knocked up to him with pace. Omar was pretty solid in defence, industrial in his clearances and has the makings of a fans favourite.
We started to threaten more in the second half and a good move from CLE put Wright clear in the penalty area and his rasping shot was well saved by Hamon in goal. Little was then the provider, I think taking the ball from a corner and his pass into the area was perfectly met by Slough who headed over Hamon to score what I think is his first goal for the club! Moyse almost scored his first goal for the club from a half clearance which forced a very good save from Hamon. Finally Koszela almost scored from another header but Lolos, who had a quiet game showed his poacher instincts to slot home for his second goal in as many games.

" Midfield trio Asa Hall, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans and Jake Andrews are all back in contention to play in Torquay United's second pre-season friendly against Truro City at Plainmoor on Tuesday (7.45pm) after being ruled out by the Government's anti-Covid 'track & trace' system." I know that criticising Dave Thomas is like shooting fish in a barrel, but I am astounded how many people are making the same mistake: Test & Trace is the Government's system for monitoring Covid cases and contacts. Track & Trace is the Royal Mail's system for keeping an eye on your parcels.

If that’s how they got to the match no wonder they missed it!

Nice to see you back to see you back, nice To be honest, the only reason I returned was that a couple of weeks ago I was faced with a plate consisting of one scone, two small jars of jam and two small jars of "clotted" cream (surely the jars render it imitation clotted rather than genuine clotted?). Obviously I sliced the scone in half but then, for the life of me, I couldn't remember in which order the jam and cream went onto the scone! At once the thought flashed into my mind: Phil would know.

Unfortunately Rags it is the one subject that Phil consistently gets wrong! Cornish genes somewhere! 😉
