Two things from this one - the motley crew in the first photo of Bratcher’s Hotshots are my friends, now all in their 50s of course, and the other £30k Southend paid for Mario Walsh!!! I was never a fan, it has to be said but actually, looking him up on wiki, he apparently spent one season at Southend, then went back to Colchester and scored 17 goals in 33 games but then vanished aged only 25. That sort of scoring record would see a player signed up from a bigger club but he went to Redbridge Forest according to wiki and that was it. What became of him at such a relatively young age?
