Interesting to see Vince O’Keefe playing for Wrexham and after Googling him, I was surprised he played so many games for them. It strange when a player straddles different eras of your life. O’Keefe signed for us when I was still at primary school and yet here he was still playing when I was at university. Wiki seems to suggest that after an 8 year gap of not playing, he signed for Rochdale in 2001. He didn’t play but if that’s true then presumably it was as last minute cover or something. He played more games for us then any of his other clubs but I never really took to him - probably replacing John Turner was impossible in my young heart at the time.

He was also our record signing at £25,000 for many years. I don’t think he was even Exeter’s first choice keeper so how they persuaded us to pay that much, I’ll never know. Can’t imagine us ever paying out that sort of money now so seems strange to think we did then in much more impoverished times.
