Although it ultimately ended in heartbreak (as most do), this was a really enjoyable season and it is nice to revisit through the programmes - thanks!
Don O was a really enthusiastic young manager - and a good player too with some new set piece delivery routines. Did he eventually give up playing during this year? Mike B still had fire in his belly and a bit of money in his wallet at that time.I had forgotten how frank his programme notes could be. Interesting to see Rhodri Giggs on the Youth player profile - hobbies listed as ‘arcades’ - bit like any youth growing up in Torbay. I heard a story that some of his escapades down the arcades ultimately contributed to him being released?
Some fantastic games - The programmes for the matches versus Crewe, Colchester and Preston brought back some great memories . If my memory serves correctly a few decent away wins - It was my first year at University and I recall some cracking days out at Wigan, Doncaster and Crewe. In the return fixture at Wycombe Mark Sale scored a late, late equaliser in front of loads of travelling gulls.
Prior to Jon’s comment earlier I had also forgotten that Mark Loram was given another chance at the club that year. I presume the offer that we made to extend the short term contract was derisory, but real shame that he didn’t stay.
Took it for granted at the time, and it may make little difference to the quality of the football on offer, but my, how I’d love to be back in the league!

Don played all of this season featured and also the next. I think he even played up to the point he was sacked in the autumn of the 95/96 season. I seem to remember him being on the pitch during the 1-8 defeat to Scunthorpe but I might be wrong in that.
