I'm fairly certain the Capital Gulls awarded the MotM to Jamie Robinsons simply because he hadn't won it before and had scored a goal.
Also slightly disappointed that the "Where are they now?" feature on John Connaughton doesn't mention that he failed to appear for the second half against Tranmere on 12 Feb 1972 due to injury, resulting in Clint Boulton playing the final 45 mins between the sticks. My first ever game at Plainmoor!
