Nice to see mention of school heads Paul Woodhouse, Jeremy Kingston and Peter Vear in Frank Prince’s column. They were stalwarts of the TDPSFA which was an excellently run organisation that provided a superb league and cup structure for the children to play football in. I left Torbay in 2005, so I’ve no idea if it is still run in the same way but nothing I’ve encountered since comes anywhere close to how good that competition was.
David Gray (not the singer but the head at Babbacombe) and I used to organise all the cup draws and we’d sit in his office pulling names out of a hat before it became popular on TV. My school at the time (Priory) obviously didn’t feature at that point - Jamie Reid was still in the infants - but for a small school we had many good players.
