Hector once noticed that Roy Thomas always sponsored the match ball v Carlisle and asked why.
I had not realised at the time that Thomas was the surname of Roy who stands near us on the Pop - part of the little group whose away trip misadventures are sometimes reported by Clive Hayward on TorquayTalk and referred to by him as “the Mechanic”. I think Timbo mentioned that he knew him through the motor trade.
Once the penny had dropped, I asked Roy why Carlisle and he told me it was because his mother was born there.

He is also a supporter of Raith Rovers.

Nice bloke who was a mechanic when there was a garage at what is now Tesco Express at the bottom of Westhill.
