TUFC match preview Vital game at the bottom of the league for us. Cannot report on this as away again this weekend but this should be my last one for a bit.

I think they call this one a " must win".

Sun is shining.
Three points followed by a steak and a few pints.
Marvellous.
Would be nice to cap it off by watching Colin Lee scoring four for Spurs on MOTD like we did after we thrashed Scunny 4-2 in October 1977.
Was that really 45 years ago? Seems like yesterday.

A match day teaser.
Three Scunthorpe players captained England in the 70s / 80s.
Which of those three played against Torquay in a league game at Plainmoor?

My guess of the two of their players I know who played for England is Ray Clemence.

Ah, hang on, you’ve been cheeky with “Captaining England” there, haven’t you?

Moxey and Lapslie return.
Hall drops out of the 16. Donnellan on the bench.
Looks like 3-5-2, but could push Moxey to the left and Martin up to make a 4-4-2.

Ah, hang on, you’ve been cheeky with “Captaining England” there, haven’t you? Not cheeky as such. Just didn't say a particular sport.

Guessing Corie Andrews is injured. Jarvis up top with Goodwin?

Guessing Corie Andrews is injured. Jarvis up top with Goodwin? Andrews injured and out for 6 weeks. What’s happened to Nelson?

With apologies to Oscar Wikde....signing one player called Nelson who never played is unfortunate. Signing two looks like carelessness.

Kevin Keegan mid sixties or Ian Botham in the early eighties I seem to recall he made an appearance.
No Asa Hall - think we must start to think he's in his final throws now and pointless relying on him to play two games in a row. No Hanson or Nelson Iseguan who must be wondering why he's here.
We are are at least a goal ahead and an improved performance so far however there's another 45 minutes still to play.

Football iffy again so Jon's match day teaser ....
Well I would have got it wrong as I thought both Kevin Keegan and Ray Clemence played for Scunthorpe in 67/68. We beat them of course in a season we should have won the league but ended up 4th!
Ian Botham didn't play at Plainmoor, although I am sure he would have added a few hundred to the crowd if he had! ⚽️🏏

Scores the winner at top of the table Chesterfield...! Nathaniel-George.
Hanging on again at the death - another measly one goal scored by a defender and fortunate in the final minutes when Halstead made the save of the match.
Bottom six now looking like breaking away form the rest of the field!
Only question now is - Can we accumulate enough point to save ourselves? Scunthorpe fans will no doubt be feeling exactly the same.

Could have been worse, a point when all around us lost…except Scunthorpe of course.
Glad to see that we’re continuing with the good old 4-4-2, because if it was good enough for Grandpa it’s good enough for us. 👴
I have a feeling that if we continue as we are, next season we will have a great chance of promotion…getting back into the National League after one season never hurt anyone. 🙂
