Nice that we have a few home games in a row now but basically we are where we are due to not being able to win at home three months into the season we need to turn that around now. A few more options for Gary with maybe another incoming and we await to see how that pans out - link

This match and the following league games have far more significance I consider far more important than the one coming up against Derby County. Our home form is worse than our away form, not a single victory all season so I'm not sure how "nice" this run of home games will turn out Rob. If we struggle again, as many understandably predict then our days are numbered playing at this level. Aldershot were the ones we were all laughing at last season and at the start of this one as they have seemingly been struggling season after season. The tables have turned dramatically and they will come here in good form after three straight wins after a change in manager. The longer we go without a win the tougher it will get to drag ourselves out of the rut. Even a draw will feel like a defeat, single points will see us drop further behind the teams above up I don't often think or say i but this could be a pivotal point and a must win game. Cant fault the effort and hard work but its been the application that's been failing us. Its up to the manager and coaches to get some stability and shape back into the side especially defensively but we have seen very litle improvement in any of those departments which is a major concern Another scratch line up no doubt with even higher numbers on shirts very likely.

Interesting to speculate who the new player coming in might be.... A proven goalscorer perhaps?

We already have six loanees, three of them centre-backs, so you would assume any incoming would have to be a permanent signing - or probably another non-contract trialist having his trial under real fire rather than on the training ground or in a friendly.
With Jarvis back, we could possibly have a squad of sixteen anyway - for the first time in weeks.
Was very disappointed that we forced Hall to play ninety minutes on Saturday. I do hope we haven’t put him out of action for weeks. Starting all four of our geriatrics (three qualified through age plus honorary member Tom Lapslie) meant we could not sub all four. We couldn’t anyway, even if allowed four subs, because we didn’t have four outfielders on the bench.
I hope we might go back to the Lapslie / Hall timeshare agreement against Aldershot - although even that may be hoping for too much.
Would expect Jarvis to replace Hall - or possibly Lapslie.
The resultant XI could set up with Donnellan and De Silva as wingbacks in a 3-5-2.
I would prefer to set up as a 4-3-3, or a sort of 4-2-3-1, with De Silva and Goodwin either side of Jarvis and McGavin in front of Lapslie / Hall timeshare and Smith.
That leaves Moxey at orthodox left-back. Not ideal, but needs must.

Oddly enough, the arrival of Mark Ellis was announced with all the fanfare of a Duck-Billed Platypus discovering it had a boil on its arse!
In footballing terms, Ellis is nearly as old as Methuselah, but I’m sure even in his dotage Methuselah could turn in a better performance than some of our defenders. Even if Ellis is only half the player he was, the difference at the back is hopefully vastly improved.
So everyone up to speed now…probably not, because it is rather difficult to move around with a boil on your arse. 🧌

Some hard work going on behind the scenes which is all you can ask and good to see a former loanee willing to come back to help the cause. Pretty sure GJ would have loved him back here on a contract three or four months ago. Doesn't guarantee the improvements we all crave but is a step in the right direction be it only yet another temporary loan. How many is that we now have in the squad? I've lost count.. Despite our sad injury crisis this number of temps can only represent a poor reflection on the players contracted and on the books and not getting starts though there's not many of them I guess. Desperate for a win tonight and our first home three points of the season. For that to happen we need to be far better defensively and more creative and threatening in attack. Its a lot to ask of the new boys but small tweaks can make all of the differnce. Surely we have to break our Duck-billed platypus soon don't we? Really hope that the building pressure doesn't make our play hesitant and nervous something we've all seen so often in the past. This match I see as a very important crossroads that could determine how our season pans out..

Petef...totally agree ...a third of the way through the season and anchored to the bottom. Think they call this a " must win" situation. Hopefully the new signings will help turn things around.

Happy to have Wearne - really liked him last season.
But yet another loan, our seventh fit one plus the injured Evans, means this is not filling a gap but just moving the gap around.
Would love to see De Silva and Wearne out wide in a 4-4-2.
Can’t really afford to leave out Smith or Goodwin, so you would have to leave out one of the two centre-backs you have just signed and replace him with Tomlinson or Omar, who are both clearly deemed not good enough by the management.
It’s all a bit of a head-scratcher. We still need everyone fit, including Hall, if we are going to fill the bench for the first time in ages.
A nice win tonight to reward the hard core who will brave the wind and rain to support our team.
Come on you Yellows!
