It seems ages ago that the National League announced that they were looking into allowing streaming, but you knew they would go at a snail’s pace.
The World Cup is a very extended international break, lifting the Saturday at 3 embargo. A golden opportunity for extra revenue thrown away.
As the league messes about sorting out a common streaming platform, the opportunity evaporates.
Just let clubs do what they did during covid. Far from perfect - but generating much needed income and allowing us fans to watch matches.
Find timely solutions to problems, not “perfect” solutions that are too late to be of any use whatsoever.
Trumping that for utter incompetence, I see that there is a full schedule of National League games on December 13/14 - the dates of the two World Cup semifinals. Have the National League not realised that there is a clash or do they think that the clash will not affect attendances? Neither is believable but one must be true.
So we will have reduced attendances as people stay at home to watch Brazil, Argentina, France or whoever.
What happens in the unlikely event of England reaching the semis? Last minute rescheduling to move all to the Wednesday or the Tuesday? We have already moved our game to the Wednesday as we play the previous Sunday.
If the National League had a competent administrator, they would not run head first into utterly predictable problems.
Would Phil Hiscox of the Peninsula League schedule fixtures on those days? Of course not. He knows what he is doing.
