Timbo's recent programme uploads take us back to the days when the great Leroy Rosenior produced the finest footballing sides I have seen in a lifetime following the club. Interesting to be reminded that Leroy was not appointed as "Manager" but as "Coach". That was a model the club had used on its formation in 1921 when Fred Mortimer answered an advert in the Athletic News and landed the role by pretending to be another Fred Mortimer altogether. The clamour for Crad Evans to take over saw him moved aside but he returned for a second go in the financial crisis of 1924-25. At least I think he did. Interesting to learn that Fred emigrated to Sierra Leone in 1926. Leroy both played for and managed Sierra Leone due to his ancestry. Wouldn't it be fantastic if Leroy's grandfather developed his footballing skills due to coaching from our Fred?

Manchester United advertising for players in the classifieds? The past really is a different country, mind you could it be any worse than having Pete Johnson as scout.
