2-2.
We had this game in the bag, but seem to have fallen apart.
Just not good enough!

Expecting an equaliser. Sound a bit fortunate to be ahead not finding our pre season form are we? We did not have any pre-season games against the kind of opposition that you face in National League South! Let’s hope our fitness lets us scrape over the line. We won’t be bringing a fresh striker off the bench!

I've forgotten if I am meant to be happy with an away point, or angry at letting a two-goal lead disappear...

Moxey getting a short runout as expected.
Jenkins Davies off.
Assume Craske pushed into midfield.
Hall having to play ninety minutes as we try to hang on for a point.
This does not bode well.

I've forgotten if I am meant to be happy with an away point, or angry at letting a two-goal lead disappear... If our ambition is to scrape into seventh, a point might just about be acceptable. If we want to win the league, it is just not good enough. Dover are poor. The kind of team we have to beat.

I'm not sure I can be bothered with The Gaffer's excuses after this performance (I expect them to be mostly about the weather).
It seems that most people connected with Dover were expecting to lose convincingly, yet now they'll be disappointed with only getting a point. This sounds like the typical hard-fought, gritty game that will make up most of this season and we need to be better-prepared for them.
I'm glad the rain was so bad I decided not to go!

Disappointing result, particularly where we were after 20 minutes. Hard to gauge who played well from the away commentary but I think Stobbs injury was quite crucial and hope he’s back soon. Early days yet and if we follow it up with two home wins then that puts a completely different perspective on things. No doubt there will be a bit of moaning about having a lack of a striker to bring on. The commentary did refer to DeSilva as the danger man though so sounds like he did well.

Not having a striker on the bench is unforgivable as is the CB situation, so yes from me 😀 I might even boycott next weeks match and meet my chums in town 🍺

I would be chuckling at the mighty Wrexham being two down early doors, but they are against MK Dons - so come on Wrexham! I was also chuckling at their result along with Notts getting well stuffed but would rather be getting stuffed in League two than scraping a fortunate draw at Dover in the football wilderness of the NLS. Laughable seeing our supporters prediction of Exeter City being certain for relegation after we stuffed them in pre season. Thye win away 0-3. Nothing to celebrate today. A wake up call without doubt but as I mentioned in my pre match post the underdogs will always raise their game against us and believe it or not there are some decent footballers at this level. The pressure is on us to perform and dominate and we failed dismally today. A two goal lead and cruising - a winning lead so weakly surrendered. Unforgivable given our expectations. Early days, just one game in but I still have concerns at the back . We rely so much on our pressing game and forward threat to keep the opposition in their half and when that GJ tactic doesn't fire on all cylinders were in trouble. You can be certain other teams will soon twig and know our limitations if they stifle our front men. Stobbs and Dawson needed back soon....

Given the performances of recent seasons it is hard to believe we have a specialist defence coach.

It’s very much a case of two points dropped; Dover are favourites for relegation. It was interesting listening to the commentators as they felt Torquay were in a different league to Dover in the first half and when we were 2-0 up were saying they thought we’d win 5-0. They were saying things like at least they were getting this game out of the way first thing so it was probably beyond their dreams to pull it back to 2-2. Having watched Torquay since 1979, and certainly judging on last season, throwing away a 2-0 lead was no surprise but we are not playing a decent team here, we are playing regional league cloggers who just avoided being relegated to a park league.
We have no defence. That’s my main concern. It was fairly obvious from the line-up and I wouldn’t want to be facing decent sides with a defence of Tomlinson, Donnelan and Craske. Heaven forbid Marshall, as that will be even worse so not only do we need Moxey back ASAP, we need reinforcements.
Last time we were in this league, our normal defence was Wynter, Niate, Cameron and Davis with Eassuman and Sokolik around as well. That’s in a different league to what we have now
