My previous Johnson out post was somewhat tongue in cheek. However my fear is that our tactical approach of " shit or bust " will be exposed even at this lower level. Let's see where we are after 10 games. Ah…the old ‘let’s see where we are after ten games!’ I seem to remember that being said at the start of last season, and look at what happened there! ⤵️ And what has changed… Hemel Hempstead away is the 10th game I believe… |

Bit harsh on Moxey, he played in a back three in the premiership. That was ten years ago. He's got older and slower, and the game has got quicker. I'm more interested in what Dean Moxey can do this season than what he has done in the past. |

Looking at the highlights the thing that strikes me most is the own goal which was totally unnecessary since the defender wasn't under pressure, take that away and we would have lost.
As for the rest of the performance, it was as inept as the performances that got us into trouble last season before the arrivals of Nouble, Lawrence, Dawson, Stobbs and Collins. Obviously Nouble and Lawrence are elsewhere, but we've got Dawson and Stobbs out already. I know it is pointless getting uptight after only one game but nearly everyone thought we would waltz this game (and a good few the league as well) and I think we've been given a bit of a jolt.

How come? If the defender had hooked it over the bar there would have been a corner for us, if he'd nodded it back to the keeper it would have been clearance up field, if he'd hoofed it back to us we would have had a different attack etc. In any of a number of alternative scenarios the match would have continued in a totally different way. |
