Marshall clearly has some talent. Getting a hat trick of reds is clearly a liability. I think he would benefit from playing alongside a more experienced CH. Some decent coaching might also help.

"Some talent" just about sums it up for a number of this totally inconsistent squad Stig. For me there's just insufficient talent or quality in the squad to get us back up. The playing style has become stale and predictable with very little flare or entertainers in the squad. The secret society that TUFC has become, the exorbitant food prices is a piss take and an insult to fans who continue to pay top whack for poor quality. Has Johnson been told no more money? It would appear that way with such a poor threadbare squad and players returning with urgency to replace them. Been saying for so long now, the defensive frailties and general team deficiencies are glaringly obvious but haven't been addressed which tells me that there's no longer any genuine intent to get us back up. Bored with now. Same errors same mistakes, relying on the old legs of injury prone Asa Hall and little or no action to set the bar higher tells me one thing.

Thanks petef....I don't get to many games these days...but hard to disagree with any of your points. Downes was a good defender..not sure what is going on on the training ground...but clearly there is something not right. We can only hope decent loan players make a difference and there are better days ahead. This is Torquay after all..we are used to under achieving.

God, that was shite. We're still going to be in this division next season. Spot on. Clarke Osborne says he wants to take us back to the EFL but where is the intent and investment in the squad? We should be a club to be feared in this league - remember this is regional non league football in the 6th tier! - but instead we just look like an easy scalp. But then Osborne isn’t interested or here for the football. Question - how bad will things have to get before fans start asking for our club back and Osborne to go? When will fans wake up to the reality of how far we’ve fallen? Answers on a postcard please.

By my calculations, that is Marshall's third red card in 34 league starts which is an average of four red cards per season. That is a phenomenal record for all the wrong reasons... I"ll raise you...Dave Caldwell three sendings off in 24 league starts !

Your sentiments and question are obviously from the heart bobgull. The problem though is that if we did tell Osborne to go he would take his money with him. It is the millions of pounds put into the club by Osborne that has maintained the existence of Torquay United for several years now. I am not sure why as he seems to have no real interest in football, but he has and without his money I think the club would have folded by now.
I am not really sure where the money tree is if "we" told him to go as we want our club back. ⚽️

How is that money being spent though?
I am not sure you can justify our league standing with the “millions spent” and the debt against the club?

I know what you are saying Rob but without Osborne's money, and apparently he does not even like football, the club would have folded about 6 years ago. There was no alternative route then 6 years ago and unless you know differently there is no alternative route standing by now. Unless the TUST is investing the subs in Euromillions of course! 😉

Due to the share percentage that Mr Osborne holds in the club, there is very little transparency as to how that money is spent as is his right. It must be respected that the club has been kept going, particularly on a fully professional basis for the second time now in the National League South. All I am saying is that Nico managed to keep us in the National League on an absolute shoestring of a budget and it is not unreasonable as a fan to question how effective the use of these resources has been as that debt may have a lasting impact on the club.
As for the club, folding six years ago, I believe the only debt was to Mr Osborne himself, around £100,000 give or take off the top of my head, think it was less so not insurmountable. Of course, with the debt ever increasing, eventually, an alternative route must be found, whether that is TUST or another vehicle, I don’t care, but found it must.

Yes 6 years ago I believe you are right Rob that the only debt owing was £100,000 to Mr Osborne, but that had been borrowed in the first place as the club had no money to fund the ongoing operation. As Mr Osborne does not like football then surely he would have preferred that somebody else took over the club and paid him back his £100,000. Nobody was interested or indeed able to if they were so he took the club on and since then it is his money that has kept the club surviving. So yes the club would have folded without his money.
I do agree that fans should be allowed to ask questions but the best of luck getting any answers from this present set up.
Still it may feel better after Saturday as a win will put us into the draw with the big boys like Stevenage, Fleetwood, and Exeter! 😉⚽️

As Rob has said above, an alternative needs to be found as the present model of ownership at the club is not working. At the moment we look like a minnow in regional non-league football. That's step 2, the sixth tier and two steps away from the Southern League Division One South with Tavistock and Exmouth. One bad season or even two can be blamed on bad luck (injuries) or external factors (Covid) but the long term fortunes of any club are a result of the owner's commitment and intentions. Regardless of what has gone before, we deserve better than what we are getting at the moment . In answer to stefano's "Unless the TUST is investing the subs in Euromillions of course! 😉" The following has been taken from TUST's FAQs page. www.tust.co.uk/faqPlease pay attention to SHOULD THE NEED ARISE! We hope it doesn't. What will my subscription be use for? The main priority is to make sure that there are sufficient funds in the Forever Yellow contingency fund to enable TUST to finance any steps necessary to launch a plan to save the club (should the need arise). Where it can afford to do so, a proportion of its income (currently up to 50%) goes to fund community projects associated with the club. For example, sponsoring the women’s team, buying equipment for the Torquay United Community Sports Trust children’s and disability teams and financing the VIP Treats initiative run by the club for children with additional needs. What will the Forever Yellow Fund be used for? TUST has a Forever Yellow Fund of £60k (as of June 2023). Its purpose is to enable TUST to try to save the club should the need arise. It would be used to pay for expert services such as the launch of a Community Share Issue and paying for legal and financial advice. Does TUST have enough money to buy and run the club? No. TUST has a Forever Yellow Fund that it will use to launch a Community Share Issue and crowd fund enough money from supporters to save the club. This has been a successful strategy at a number of other clubs in a crisis situation. TUST has spent time evaluating a number of different options for trying to keep a football club in Torquay at Plainmoor. These options include trying to save the existing club (the legal entity that is ‘the club’) and owning it for a short time whilst a suitable owner is found or a sustainable model for supporter ownership is established Another option would be to launch a phoenix club.
