Must win game today in what will be dry, but blustery conditions. Whether we will win will depend on if some of our injured players are available again. Curry night tonight so omens are not good…… link - TUFC match preview.

Looking forward to the curry. Not looking forward to the match.
Dover are the worst team in the league.
Home win nailed on surely.
Bath and St Albans games are off and Hemel are at Yeovil, so a point would almost certainly move us up into the playoff places.
Great point Gaffer. Would have won if it wasn’t for the ref, Gaffer. But in the playoffs and with games in hand. You must be delighted that you have proved you are the best in the business Gaffer. The right kind of supporters never doubted you Gaffer.
Will we have 16 fit bodies? Depends how you define fit.
From Saturday, we will probably have Archer in and Ofori-Acheampong out. We should not have Chastey in the squad - the current situation is not one to throw a school kid into.
I think that Lapslie and Ash are first in the queue to return. Neither will be match fit, but could be on the bench to get a twenty minute run.
Maybe Hall and Lapslie could share ninety minutes at a push. If so, I would have them sitting in front of the back four. Protecting the centre backs, organising things, winning the ball and playing it simple. Johnson would have them racing around box to box until they knacker themselves.
I would try to get two up front somehow. Playing one up top only works if you have a target man. Ash not ready to start so Collins the obvious first choice, but Johnson will play him anywhere but up front.
Neither Foyo nor Archer the ideal partner, but that is all we have. That means width on the left coming from Jenkins Davies drifting left in a 4-4-2 and/or the left back overlapping - making it nearly a 3-5-2.
I haven’t named that left back as it is a toss-up between Martin and Harris. I have made it very clear that I am no fan of Martin but unfortunately Harris has regressed so massively during his time here that there is now little to choose between the two.
Would love to see us look like a team that knows what it is doing and deservingly wins convincingly. I expect it will be similar to the Eastbourne game. Eastbourne were almost bad enough to contrive to lose to us. Can Dover take dreadfulness a step further and actually manage to lose to us?

Martin, Hall, Archer and somewhat surprisingly Ash start. Harris, Collins and Foyo join Lapslie on the bench.

Hall and Ash will not last 90 minutes - especially if we play them as box to box midfielder and lone striker respectively. I suspect we will with Archer wide left and McGavin pretending to be Pirlo. Have long suspected Collins has health issues. Can he timeshare with Ash while Lapslie timeshares with Hall? Martin may not last 90 either, so all three subs committed before we kick off!

link — TUFC match report. So we got the win today thanks to another McGavin spectacular long range strike which was probably worth the admission fee alone. Just as well as there wasn’t a huge amount of goal action. I counted six shouts for penalties today five in our favour with a blatant dive by Dover right at the death, their player should have had a yellow, but it was poor Dan Martin that got one instead for protesting too much. The first penalty appeal in the first half was the most blatant with De Silva slipping in Marshall along the edge of the penalty area and brought down with the defender clipping his heels. The referee looked straight at the line, who took the fifth. Unfortunately for him, he got a shed load of abuse for the rest of the half for not seeing a blatant penalty right in front of him. There were two further soft penalties in this half with Archer bursting into the box, apparently pulled down, but he was already off balance and it would’ve been very soft, there was another pull back right in the corner of the area from another player, which again would’ve been incredibly soft if given. A returning Ash did well to last 3/4 of the game and his best opportunity came in the first half forcing the keeper to tip the ball over the bar. In the second Dan Martin had an opportunity but hit it straight at the keepers midriff for comfortable catch leaving it to McGavin just before the hour mark to score with his 30 yard shot going straight into the left-hand side of the net with the covering defender in shock. We then had had two further penalty appeals with Jenkins Davies appearing to be tripped as he advanced into the area and then Archer going past his man before seemingly being hauled back before he could cross the ball. Late on Dover had a possible appeal in the box but awarding a penalty did not appear to be on the referee’s bingo card today. Main thing is that we won, no new injuries incurred, good to see Lapslie back playing 25 minutes and possibly ready to start Tuesday, Dan Martin showed pace at times today and think I rate him more than Jon!

Without anybody shining today I thought that nobody had a bad game and the only thing to remember was the goal, another blockbuster from McGavin. I was right in line with it and thank goodness the net intervened as it might have 'knocked my block off' otherwise.
Some others have posted that Martin stood out from the dross and, bearing in mind the stick that he gets from some quarters, he caught my eye too.
As is normal in this league, the ref was predictably bad save that he did book one of their players for a lunge long after the incident happened because he had waved us on with advantage and then the ball refused to go out of play.

A dull game lit up by McGavin's cracker of a goal coupled with a nice curry later in the evening.
A wins a win but not convinced with our performance or that of the Ref and the Plainmoor side lino, do these guys not have to pass any tests to officiate?

Expectation was football 0/10 and curry 7/10.
Ended up football 2/10 and curry 10/10 - so a good day.
A win is a win.
A clean sheet is a clean sheet.
Great to see Lapslie get a runout and Ash put in a decent stint. No more injuries - unless there was one I missed.
Screamer from McGavin yet again.
That seems a lot of plus points so let's count our blessings.
A very narrow win over the worst team in National League South hardly sets the pulse racing, but better than nothing! I'll take that.

A quick walk down from the ground to the Hole in the Wall for three pints of various ales and Guinness, Just before 7, walked up the road to the East in the West. Pomps and spinneys to start washed down with Kingfisher and Salcome bitter. I had Chicken Varitha curry for mains with rice and garlic naan. Again very nice, washed down with another kingfisher. Walked to the bus stop and after handing over two nuggets I was home
