The previous fixture, which was our first home game in front of a good crowd was an absolute horror show and following on from only a draw away at Dover previously, this was a strong indication that we wouldn’t romp away with this league which of course has been the case. Another day or a better team would have absolutely buried us and to rub salt into the wound, the after match curry night saw us seated right next to a large table of Worthing supporters! So, despite all the injuries, must do better. link - TUFC match preview

A series of poor performances against poor opposition have just given us enough points to stay just inside the top seven.
Now we come up against Worthing - who are second so not as poor as the teams we have been playing.
Fortunately for us, they have lost Aguiar who has been a key to their success.
I was totally shocked when they visited us back in August at the massive gulf in class between the two teams. With a little bit more luck and some sharper finishing, they should have scored at least six.
It seems to me that we have got worse since then …..
Looking on the bright side, that gives us an opportunity to go out and win a game and say that we did it against a decent side.
I suppose I expect a narrow defeat and a load of whingeing about bad luck, the weather and the referee.
If Worthing are on song and we actually do have some bad luck, we could be in for a thrashing. Let’s hope not. The presence of Lapslie would reduce the chances of that significantly.
Jenkins Davies can play today ahead of his ban. I would expect Lapslie to start ahead of Hall as the only change. Would be nice if Ofori Acheampong could be on the bench, instead of Thomas, to give us a different option in the last 20 minutes. How long have we been crying out for a striker on the bench? Would then expect him to be in the running for a start next week with Archer dropping back to replace WJD. Martin may return or may not. Not too bothered either way.
Fingers crossed. Come on you Yellows!

Lapslie and Hall do indeed swap places. Expect Hall to come on for last 20 - possibly replacing Lapslie.
Martin does replace Harris, with Harris replacing Thomas on the bench.
Ofori Acheampong not ready, let’s hope he is fit for next week when we will not have WJD.

Losing now. Sounded like Halstead certainly at fault for their first.

Halstead subbed off.
So one out of Martin, Lapslie and Ash will have to manage to last ninety minutes.
Is any one of them ready for that? Johnson admitted Martin is not well enough to play a full game when interviewed by Radio Devon before the match.

Good to have intelligent analysis from Gritts rather than the inane drivel that we often get from the “expert summariser”.
Sounds like they are pulling us to pieces now.
And as I type that we go 3-1 down.
This could end up embarrassing. Hope not.
We are so easily out-thought tactically.
Does George Edwards really believe that Gary Johnson is head and shoulders above all the other National league South managers who regularly out-think him? Does Mark Horler agree with him?

Now Marshall injured.
Craske on at right back.
So two out of Martin, Lapslie and Hall will have to last ninety minutes!
On the plus side, the injuries will give Johnson a nice lot of excuses to churn out when we lose.
With Halstead and Marshall fit, we’d have won Gaffer!

Gritts just summed up exactly what is wrong.
Nobody protecting the centre backs and no strength up front.
Bleeding obvious, but it has been obvious for so long to everybody except Edwards, Johnson and Downes. You would think that the best manager in the business would see what Gritts can see and do something about it.
No point discussing a tactical substitution though. We need all our subs to replace players who are not fit enough to play ninety minutes. No such luxury as a tactical substitution for us.

Archer scores. Pleased for him. Like his attitude and his work rate.

Moxey sent off. Second yellow.
First one was for moaning and whingeing which is our corporate identity at the moment.
It is an excuses culture from top to bottom.
No wonder that the players follow their leaders.
