Well nearly, he gets a mention in the Times today as Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham has, after seventy four years, finally equalled an unwanted record of his. Apparently Eddie picked the leather out of his net 74 times in his first 27 matches for Charlton (in the top division then) back in 1950.
Eddie came to us via Luton from Charlton in 1959 and was much tighter between the sticks when sharing the job with Mervyn Gill, even to the point of helping us win our first promotion from the old Division Four to Division Three.
That was during a purple patch for us in the goalkeeping department as I remember that we had a whole string of excellent keepers, Eddie among them.
