A lot of water has passed under the bridge since the previous game more than 3 months ago at Plainmoor on 20th April where we beat Havant and Waterlooville 5-0 on the pitch but still had a heck of a lot of uncertainty off it. Since then everything has changed with the only constant being Austin Booth, who for that game came on as an early substitute for Lapslie and scored the goal of the season which will stick long in my memory.
So, new owners, new manager,( with the help of an old manager), new club secretary, new players (apart from Booth) new pitch, new paint job at the ground (ongoing with much more to come) making it feel like a new club with a new positive vibe and a feeling that we have turned a corner and are now on the way back up.
So after a couple of warm-up games against lower quality opposition, we welcome two local higher league clubs which will be a different proposition but all part of the process in being ready for that first game against Enfield on 10th August. I understand that Plymouth sold out their away allocation very quickly so if we bring a similar level of home support to that of the Havant game then it will be a bumper gate. Wayne Rooney is of course the Argyle manager, which will have a novelty value in itself and make this fixture more attractive.

Went to the club today to buy tickets for the game. 5000 sold now, when was the last time we had that many for a psf.

On the rare occasions we actually get high 4-5000 ish crowds it always feels pretty full up to me and wonder where another 1000 would fit ! Anyway lets hope we have this minor problem all season !

5250 tickets sold being reported on TUFC FB page and looks very likely to be sold out. Unheard of for a pre season friendly' Would imaging Argyle supporters will make up a large part of that number plus the Rooney factor may have also played a part. Whatever the reasons it's a fantastic response and an incredible stat.

I can recall watching in the ministand in 1971 for a League cup match against Tottenham - in the days of Cyril Knowles, Martin Peters, Martin Chivers and Allan Gilzean etc etc who all played that night. Over 20,000 in our old little ground. Now that was a squash and an experience!

As a comparison, just over 3500 tickets were sold for this fixture last year, also I think the first PSF game played at Plainmoor. Apparently standing tickets only are now available and with pay on the gate this could be very close to or will be a sell out.

I think another factor driving this is that this is Argyle's only psf in Devon and their fans first chance to get a glimpse at Rooney.

Something written on another forum has got me wondering, does the visiting team in psfs get a cut of the gate receipts?

Michael Westcott has confirmed that both Argyle and Exeter have agreed to us retaining all the gate receipts from the PSF's.

A shame there seems to be a large number missing out today, so many appealing for tickets but what an incredible response. Think we may need a bigger ground with proper car parking at this rate.....
