link - certainly a big match for this village side three divisions below ourselves and think this is the first time we have played them. Listening to Paul below, looks like same personnel available as for the Welling game and a chance for the team to get back to winning ways. It may be an opportunity to tweak the side slightly and freshen things up with Mussa being the obvious choice to see if he can build on his PSF form. Will be travelling up and looking forward to another FA Cup campaign.

4 on the bench.
If Bishops played in south Devon, who would they be playing?

4 on the bench. If Bishops played in south Devon, who would they be playing? Liverton - Chudleigh.... ha only kidding but losing 3-0 to a village side must be one of the worst results in the clubs history. Goes without saying its a total embarrassment for all at the club including the manager who wouldn't have seen this one coming - like 99% of us I guess. The bigger picture is far more important but today has really showed up our limitations in the current squad and to be honest I feel our league position is slightly flattering and has been achieved through hard work rather than outright ability. When you look back to the players we had in our promotion season form this division there's just no comparison and the general quality was far higher. I still feel we're just a developing squad and need to strengthen in a number of areas if we have genuine ambitions for this season. Have to say big well done to Bishops Cleave who wanted it more by the sounds of it though surprised we didn't show enough desire and went out with a whimper. Tough one for the manager to explain away to supporters - Goodness knows how he will react and respond behind the scenes or publicly but he sure wont be a happy bunny.

That was a very short cup run.

I popped in to see my in-laws in Somerset on the way to the game and dropped my son off to his new Digs in Cardiff on the way back so a lot of driving yesterday with very little return to basically see a piss poor performance.
I understand the team coach was very late getting to the ground and while traffic was difficult, it did seem to be poor planning and set the tone for the rest of the day. Apart from the first few minutes when we had a header cleared off the line we were basically out played for the whole match as we failed to get to grips with either the pitch or the opposition. What was particularly disappointing is that we were regularly beaten to those 50-50 balls or were outmuscled on it Ash and Seymour upfront together certainly doesn’t work. Our threat on goal was minimal, the only other chance of note was a header from a corner which the keeper was able to tip over the bar.
Poor defensive mistake to concede the first goal and both of the other two goals came from hitting us on the break, but again very poorly defended and could have been avoided and very uncharacteristic of our play so far this season.
We had four key players out yesterday but do have three back next week, which will help. However, I think we are still in need of further strengthening and there are rumors of a possible loan signing next week and much needed!

Thanks for the match report Rob, it sounded dire to the power of 50 on the wireless.
FA cup shocks are what makes it a great cup, I could take a defeat by the odd goal but it sounded like we gave in and had no game plan.
Hope PW is on the phone come Monday 🤔

I was there on Saturday and in my close on fifty years of support this was one of the most excruciatingly embarrassing F A Cup exits i can remember. We look so lightweight up front its off the scale for starters as well as a complete lack of pace across the team. Of course its still early in the season and i would be amazed if Wotton cant see it like the rest of us. Things can look very different very quickly in football and im sure they will. Good luck to Bishops Cleeve as they thoroughly outplayed us and certainly should have won by more.

Apparently and according to some, it was the pink away strip that was the reason we performed so poorly. No panic, I'm just pleased we still have a football club and owners that genuinely has ambition for better, has a plan to survive, live within its means and prosper in the "long term". Barely a few months have passed since the club was sinking into the abyss and already many have forgotten where we were, on the brink of oblivion and what the new owners had to achieve to get some stability back into the football club. Human nature I guess but we have no right to expect instant success. Perhaps the bar has been raised too early with such a decent start to the league campaign and hand in hand with that comes raised fan expectation levels that just aren't realistic. Nobody really needs reminding this was always going to be a long hall after assembling an entirely new "affordable" squad with one or two exceptions in slightly over the hill Dean Moxey, whos been forced to play early doors and the now banned Austin Booth. Paul Wotton, who still has a lot to learn in his management role including his very revealing and open post match interviews, had to get on his bike quickly to sign the players he was able to in the short time window he had and has done a pretty decent job to get the group organised and in the top seven of the division. A far better position than many thought we would be and has come about through hard work in pre season and in training that has given us a slight edge over one or two others in the division especially the part timers with smaller part time squads. I have my doubts that the current squad, as it stands will be able to maintain this initial impetus as the others find their feet and play catch up. I would be pleasantly surprised if we can maintain a challenge for top spot or the playoffs with the current crop of players who have worked their socks off but happened to fall short at the weekend for whatever reason. It happens at every level of the game. No need for knee jerk reactions after one single poor performance and result that will be soon lost in history and absolutely nobody cares that we lost to a village side except the supporters of TUFC. I'm personally glad it happened in a cup game rather than a league game though you can be sure it will happen again just as it always has done. Yes a cup run would have been nice but highly unlikely we would make very far. There's here's always the Devon bowl I guess...that sadly is about the only cup competition we have a chance of winning but though I'm certain that will change for the better in time.

Sorry Pete but platitudes about the new owners cannot excuse that performance. It's not about losing, it's the manner in which we lost and the behind the scenes planning; why did the coach arrive so late? You can't just blame the traffic for that. More concerning are Wotton's comments after the last two games that the team is not following his instructions, why not, does he lack the leadership skills needed? As to expectations we have been told by members of the consortium that we have one of the biggest budgets in the division and that promotion is the aim this season. If we finish mid table this season Wotton would have achieved no more than Johnson would have last season without the points deficit and last reasons effort was appalling. The fans pay their money and entitled to an opinion.

Watched the highlights. Pretty dire. However...progress is not going to be linear.. there will be ups and downs. This was a down. A few well placed loan signings could really strengthen the team. Having owners who care about the club still a huge relief.
