It’s another home game and again they play at Coach Road this afternoon. Our opponents have not had the best start losing all three of their league games so far so hopefully we can power on and consolidate our second place in the league. Match day programme is online - link

Bit of a mismatch today as we thrashed St Austell 12-0, dominating both possession and territory. Saint Austell did actually have gilt edged chance in the second half but spurned them both, one from a poor back pass to the keeper which was intercepted by their striker with the shot from a narrow angle, coming back off the inside of the post and the second when their striker received the ball on the edge of the six yard box but spun round and shot wide with the goal at her mercy. While the opposition did work hard and never let their heads drop, they virtually lost every battle going. Women against girls today.
Started in a monsoon like downpour although this did get better in the second half. So to briefly summarize, the opening goal came from a poor, goal kick straight to one of our players, and they were able to slip the ball inside the area to Bishop to slot the ball pass the keeper. A free kick from the right was sent deep into the box and Tracey Cross headed home from around the penalty spot to get the second. The third came after a number of opportunities around the area with the ball eventually coming on the edge of the area to Lexi Watts, who made no mistake hitting the ball, hard and low just inside the left hand post for the third. Lucy Solloway and Ellie Bishop then both found space in the area to do to slot the ball home for goals four and five. Emily Elliot then got a brace before halftime,on both occasions receiving the ball on the right hand side, and cutting in goalwards past the defenders and then making no mistake slotting it past the keeper. Bishop almost got a Hattrick with a good cross from Solloway, but her header at the far post was just scooped around the post by their keeper for one of the few saves she made.
So seven up at half time and a number of substitutions were made, and perhaps a little of the intensity went out of the game although we actually scored very early on with Lucy Solloway getting her brace and then her Hat-trick against her previous club, one of the goals was a tad fortunate coming off the keepers foot. 9 goals for her so far the season and looks like a very good signing. Chloe Williams came as a substitute upfront and got a good goal. Natasha Bevan scored what I think is her first goal for the club after some good work from Lexi Watts to win the ball back in the area and cross along the face of goal for it to be tapped in at the far post. Final goal was my favorite, Emily Elliot with some good work on the left-hand side and from a tight angle chipped the keeper from about 6 yards out from left to right.
FA Cup action next week to be played at Newton, Spurs and women will be very confidence against a team in the next league down as they continue in a run of 6 home games.
