I am going to have to cancel my Setanta subscription and after hearing some horror stories in the press and on the radio from people who had difficulties in doing this I was wondering if anybody on the forum has found an easy way to do it. Thanks Roger

Go the normal route, if they don't play ball just cut them off at the source (ie, the direct debit). Make sure you keep copies of all emails and letters written. This way, if they try and demand money from you, you can prove to them that you cancelled it at a certain time.
The horror stories you speak of are one of the main reasons I went with Sky Sports instead of Setanta.

Joe, they basically make it as difficult as possible for you to cancel your subscription. They've been known to "not receive" information and try and keep you on as long as possible.
Go to Google, type "Cancelling Setanta" and you'll get all kinds of stories.

There was an anouncment last week on a radio 5 live interview from Setanta denying all knowledge of problems with cancelling the service and their representative being interviewed suggested it would NOW bw much easier. He also said the company would introduce a 30 day notice instead of the current 60 day notice of cancellaton. He also said that the company would now accept "email" cancellation notifications. All of these sort of short contract subscription companies like to have you hanging by a thread and will use tactics of this nature to retain there revenue stream for just a little bit longer if they can. Its the easiest thing in the world to suggset that paperwork is not received or gone missing and months down the line you are wondering why they are still debiting your account. Ask anybody who has tried to cancel intermet services, mobile phone contracts, tv subscriptions etc etc and many horror stories such as this will come to light.

I cancelled setanta last July giving them the 30 days notice they required even sent the letter by registered post. They denied they received it & demanded that I pay the £5 I was supposed to of owed them or they would 'forward my case to their debt recovery dept' I duly sent the cheque for £5 as requested . Guess what they have still yet tom cash the cheque !!! utter T0$**RS me thinks
