It seems like years ago now, but who can forget that delicious result away to ALDERSHOT TOWN on the night of August 15th, 2007?
Pounded 3-0 at home by a rampaging Gulls side, it still seems hard to accept that we fell away so badly in the league, letting "THE SHOTS" canter away to the Championship.
Here are the photos I took at the RECREATION GROUND during the afternoon, as I embarked on one of my now all too familiar snooping missions!
THE CLUB OFFICES/ PLAYER ENTRANCE, BEHIND THE "MAIN STAND."
THE BARREL ROOFED "EAST BANK TERRACE" VIEWED FROM THE FAR CORNER OF THE MAIN (NORTH) STAND.
BOTH HOME AND AWAY FANS ARE INVITED TO STAND HERE ON THE COVERED TERRACING - SEPARATED ONLY BY A MESH FENCE!!
ANOTHER SNAP OF THE "EAST BANK" TAKEN FROM THE TERRACED SECTION OF THE "MAIN STAND."
THE MAIN STAND IS ONLY PARTLY COVERED (TO THE REAR) AND WAS BUILT IN THE 1930'S.
THE ALL SEATER "SOUTH STAND."
BUILT IN 1929, THIS STAND STRADDLES THE HALF WAY LINE, WITH OPEN TERRACE EITHER SIDE.
THE "MAIN STAND" VIEWED FROM THE OPEN SECTION KNOWN AS THE "HIGH STREET END." THIS END IS NO MORE THAN A PATH ALONG THE BACK OF THE GOAL, AND IS TOTALLY EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS.
ALSO NOTE THAT ONLY THE CENTRAL THIRD OF THE "MAIN STAND" HAS SEATS INSTALLED.
THE "SOUTH STAND" VIEWED FROM ALONG SIDE THE SEATS IN THE "MAIN STAND."
THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN FROM THE HOME SECTION OF THE "EAST BANK." AS I TOOK THIS SHOT, THE ALDERSHOT "ULTRAS" WERE ERECTING VARIOUS BANNERS AND FLAGS FOR THE GAME THAT EVENING.
THE BARREL ROOF AMPLIFIES CROWD NOISE, RESULTING IN A FANTASTIC MATCHDAY ATMOSPHERE.
FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER.
THE OPEN "HIGH STREET END" VIEWED FROM THE "EAST BANK."
