If my understanding of the situation is correct, after Monday these players won't be able to sign for any team in the BSP, they would only be allowed to play for a team in a lower division.
I bet their agents are working over time as we speak to try and get them into any BSP team before Monday and only Beavon has got fixed up so far as we know.
All very sad for real people who love the club and for the fans, it may not mean the end of the club as such, from Monday it will no longer have to fund a big wage bill and one hopes the share sales will bring in enough to cover the debts at least. Its a case of watch this space and keeping fingers crossed.

A very sad day in the history Of Weymouth football club and I deeply feel for the true fans of the club, while playing kids and the result has made a joke of the league, as a team who has only scored 16 goals away all season, not find they have the number 24 in the column, as a fan I would have hated to have been in my teams home ground and watch all those goals go in.
If Weymouth can only put a team of kids out for the rest of the season, I feel as sad as it is, it would be better for them just to fold now and let all the results be wiped from the tables. I have not looked to see who they have to play in the games that are left, but the final tables may end up a farce as the clubs still left to play Weymouth would all be on near guaranteed wins.

I see that Weymouth lost 9 nil against Rushden today - had a quick look at the team for the Terras and cannot see one name I recognise (Radio Devon mentioned that someone sent a text in saying it was the Weymouth under 18's). Little unfair for us to play the full team one week and Dustbins get the boys the next. What's the next step for Weymouth? Will they get thrown out and all results against them be null and void?

I can only recall resignation from the league being forced upon Aldershot (and the susequent expunging of their record that season) in the last 25 years, although maybe Newport County did in the 88/89 season in the Conference as well?
You can't really blame heir players for not playing today - they haven't got insurance to play and to put their careers at risk in that way would be foolish.
I suppose that there is a possibility that the prospectve owners have forced the current owners to not pay the team so that they come-in with a clean slate to work with - perhaps that is a bit of a long-shot...... Doesn't look good for them.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but apparently it WAS a youth side because the club could not afford to pay the players insurance for todays game and they refused to play... they can walk on monday and the manager has gone now.

If their record was expunged, the following is of note:-
Burton would lose 1 point. Crawley and Oxford 1 point. Stevenage and Cambridge 4. Kidderminster, Histon, Wrexham and TUFC 3. Kettering 0 points.
TUFC, Oxford, Stevenage, Cambridge and Kidderminster have played Weymouth twice already. Burton, Crawley, Kettering, Histon and Wrexham have played them only once.

You are absolutely correct Dave.......................Weymouth must go! They are damaging the integrity of the BSP, they are an absolute disgrace and let's not have any sympathy for them over this..............not only have they failed to pay their staff for six weeks now they have failed to pay the insurance premiums on their players. Turn to their official website and read the statement on there about the scandalous goings on that are killing their club and it is obvious they have no place in professional football. they took the piss over our fixture the other week and now they take the piss again sticking out a side like that and taking gate money under false pretences - money that STILL won't find it's way to their major creditors, their employees. Kick them out NOW and BAN all the club officials who are left from the game in general for bringing the game into extreme disrepute. How bloody fair is it that WE should have to face a properly trained and coached team in our two games with them, yet R&D get three free points and NINE goals onto their goal difference?

The NLP today suggests certain Weymouth players may be moving to other BSP clubs: Williams and Sandwith to Oxford; Gaia to Crawley. Speculation, of course, and quite possibly lazy reporting if this business about players being unable to move to clubs in the same league is correct.
And, apparently, there's been another merger meeting with Dorchester followed by talk about Malcolm Curtis buying the club back on the cheap.

That information was given to me by people in Weymouth and was reported in the local paper there, so they and then I took it to be correct, but maybe that information was based on the club folding only and not the case now that the players are able to walk due to not being paid. If that is the case lets go get Williams

What is the thinking/reasoning behind the Weymouth players NOT being able to play for other BSP Clubs?

What is the thinking/reasoning behind the Weymouth players NOT being able to play for other BSP Clubs? My understanding Phil was if the club went bust the players registrations then belonged to the BSP, it is their rule that states the said players could not join any other BSP club until the season ended and could only play in any division lower.

Maybe something to do with the transfer window? If players registrations belonged to the BSP then could you not then "loan" players from them in the same way as you would from another club?

Apparently their players have been given special dispensation by the footballing authorities to sign for other clubs (including those in our League) outside of the transfer window.
A sensible decision in all the circumstances, and as things stand unless something happens at the Weymouth end by tomorrow morning then their whole first team squad will be able to sign for other clubs, as free agents.
I wonder how closely we are monitoring the situation as by all accounts the likes of Crawley and Oxford, as well as some Football League clubs are showing interest in their players - it would appear that at least none of their first team squad have offers lined up and so I would imagine there will be quite a few moving on tomorrow if nothing happens overnight.

Well my words in Weymouth this morning were not well received and I got a somewhat angry response, but that was to be expected. I made the point that while it was my wish and hope that Weymouth could be saved, it must drop out of the BSP it it plans to use youth players to fulfill its remaining fixtures. I was told that an announcement was being made today or tomorrow and the club was being saved, he would not give up any more details at all( I tried hard to pump him ;D) He was not sure about the players that have not been paid and what part if any they would play in the rest of the season. It seems some people who have paid for shares in the club and I could not find out if they were ones bought before or ones bought in the new shares offer, that has fell flat on its face anyway, but some want to know where the money has gone. I was also told that a local business man went to the club and wanted to give it a four figure sum, this was only to be shared between the players, the club said it would have to go into the share fund only. It is claimed the man then told them to stuff it then and he would get the money to the players himself, I do not know if he did do that in the end. So its watch this space, I have heard before such claims that it was going to be saved, but its at a knock down price now, so someone might have bought it.
