I'd actually heard it before, Stuart, and once used it in I-Spy fashion on an away trip. It took most of the way to Chesterfield if I remember.
But if Histon get promotion?

DGEP has rather beaten me to the punch on his teasers! How about Paul Ince for #1? (I have resisted the power of t'internet and am sure to be embarrassed!). I can't help on the Scottish question, I'm afraid - Hearts of the South??? Right then - I challenge anyone to get this without outside assistance : Name 3 players who have missed two penalties for England (Football Association) and these pens were not in shoot-outs? Good luck with that!

The Pens question probably too difficult. I'll give it a day or two and give the answers.
In the meantime -

Got any 'O's? (Two Ronnies - classic.)
Anyway, got the players in quick order. Well done chaps.
Now for the penalty failures - I'm reliably informed they are - David Beckham, Franny Lee and David Byrne. I got Beckham (Turkey, France), but not Lee; and I thought the other one was lead singer of Talking Heads.
How about another? Easier but it takes time ---
Name 4 teams in the EFL that have all 5 vowels in their name?

Bon chance mes amis!

NickGull got them all (well Googled mate ), but I'll just clarify the answers: 1. Which player has won the English Premier League, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the European Championships and has also played in Manchester, Merseyside and several London derbies? Nicolas Anelka. He won the EPL and FA Cup with Arsenal, the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, the European Championships with France, played in a Manchester derby for City, a Merseyside derby for Liverpool and London derbies with Chelsea and Arsenal. 2. Which club's stadium is closest to the River Mersey? Despite not being in Liverpool, Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County, is the closest to the River Mersey. Well played to Barton for being the first to get this one.3. Who is the only team in the English Football League whose name begins with 5 consonants? Crystal Palace. When I asked my friend this once, he immediately blurted out: "ARSENAL!" Talk about falling at the first hurdle...4. Who are the only professional club in Britain with the letter 'J' in their name? St. Johnstone.5. Which club's stadium is the highest above sea level? The Hawthorns, home of West Bromwich Albion. I'd heard the same as you Barton and always thought it was Boundary Park, Oldham. 6. Who is the only player to score in a Manchester, Merseyside and Glasgow derby? My hero as a child, Andrei Kanchelskis (Manchester United, Everton and Rangers).7. Fill in the missing gap: 1979: Sunderland 1980: 1981: Villa Trevor Brooking. Sunderland, Brooking and Villa were the goal scorers in the FA Cup finals of those years.Midlands, I've scribbled your one down. Can't see me getting a lot of work done this afternoon...

Spot on Mr. Hayes!
Quite an impressive achievement which should give encouragement to young players currently plying their trade at our level.

Spot on Mr. Hayes! Quite an impressive achievement which should give encouragement to young players currently plying their trade at our level. I get the impression that Ian Harte maybe joining him soon. He played in Spain for Levante of course.
