I have just kissed Carol goodbye as she sets of out tonight and the most proudest and also very touching feeling came over me, I will explain in a minute.
Today on the J.Vine show Jane Goody was being discussed, it was really asking the question should she be doing the show that is showing her dieing. What ever anyone may feel about her as a person, it is very tragic that she does not have long to live and will leave two children behind.
Some felt she was an inspiration while others felt it was not in good taste and she should be more reserved and keep out of the spotlight and just spend her time with her children. I have only seem one clip where she was in the bathroom and crying as she was losing her hair and then her mother shuts the door.
I found it a bit distressing myself and something I would have preferred not to have seen, but as she has lived in the spot light all her life, maybe this is her way of being able to cope.
Listening to the show and some very sad stories on it from some listeners who have lost young family to cancer, I was bound to end up with Carol on my mind for the rest of my working day.
One thing Carol has loved doing is going out once a month with her girlfriends to a hotel in Torquay. They have a swim sauna and a meal and they have been doing it for a few years now.
Sadly things got a bit upsetting for Carol during her chemo treatment, she was not allowed to go swimming and for very good reasons, but still wanted to be part of the evening out with her friends. She was happy to sit and watch and then have the meal, but I could not believe it when the hotel said she could not just pay for the meal only and would have to pay the full price. In the end it was sorted out and they agreed a price just for the meal, far to high in my view, but this was about Carol still being able to be a part of the night out.
Well she is off tonight and will be joining in everything and getting back into the pool, so I'm really pleased for her, but that is not what has made me proud.
Due to the cold weather and the fact her hair has only started growing a while ago(got my own Hazel O' Conner) she has felt the need to always go out with her wig on. Tonight she knows she won't be able to swim with it on and has gone out without it. People like Carol humble me so much and as she walked down the road to meet her friends, she kept turning to wave and that is when I really felt so proud of this very special lady
