Torbays town centers are struggling, the rates paid by shops are very high. Car park charges are also very high and to make matters even worse we have the N.C.P.
The N.C.P have no give and take, fail to listen to common sense, and the Bay went from some 4000 tickets to 36000 tickets.
Despite that and having no real improvements in the congestion on our roads, there is a short fall in the money they bring in. Several 100 thousands short.
The answer seems to have parking meters on many of our streets, even Paignton seafront will have them(for the winter months only so only locals will be paying) but I fear they will just turn our town centers into ghost towns.
We need to find a way to get people back into our local shops, not force them to places like the willows etc. But what do I know I'm not a politician

I think parking meters are a great idea on Torquay & Paignton sea fronts!!
One good east wind and they will be full of salty sea water & sand and out of use....so parking will become free again.
Well done Mr Bye...fantastic idea, alomost as good as planning to build a mega-stadium on a flood plane, complete with underground stage etc!!!
