Great coverage on dot com with very regular updates. Seems like were doing ok, despite a dodgy ref. Green's had to be helped off the pitch, hope those dodgy knees arent going to haunt us.

Really got the feeling from the couple of times Ive seen him play, that, if he can stay fit, he will get a bucket full of goals for us. Looks a real class act and will be my choice for top scorer. Still not sure who is best to play next to him though. Presume Bucks will play Sills (or play anywhere Hargreaves).

I think it can only be Sills, Benyon has started well, but I really now have to agree that he is still to lightweight, (that will please Merse) still think Benyon can come on as a sub and add something.

How does it work, do you know, this is game no 2, we won the first one , so why do we have to go to penalties

Dunno, just know that each game goes straight to pens with no extra time. It all seemed a bit wierd when the games were announced. How can teams which we play against, play against other teams that we wont come up against? How do they work out who gets to the final? Why is it only 40 minute halves? Is there any benefit to winning the tournament? Is there a defined group stage? Does anyone care? Should I lay off the whiskey???
Sorry.

Oh well, lost on penalties. (why does the keeper have to take one?) Looks like we might be able to field a full team against Chelsea reserve reserves.

If you are enjoying it then no it would be good to know how it works, if only so we can understand, how we get where, not really important other than practice for the team. hope we can get a good report, we should be walking games like these really.

Yep, although I'm more worried about Green than the result.

So I also take it that this is as far as we go and won't have to worry about splitting the team in two on Saturday. Lets hope Green is OK, we don't know it is his knees yet, so fingers crossed.

Is there any benefit to winning the tournament? Is there a defined group stage? This is quite a recognised formula for a pre-season tournament................especially not playing extra time, in fact I can't ever recall any pre-season game going to extra time. Results don't really matter, more the fact that Eastleigh would have provided something closer to the regular sort of opposition we will meet in the BSP than any other game so far. The one thing that concerned me was the manager's complaints about the long grass, as I know only too well that this can be a contributory factor towards injuries incurred due to the slowing of the ball making timing of challenges more difficult - mind you it couldn't have been that long as he selected Danny Stevens! I would say the major benefits to be gained from being in this tournament are the advantages to be gained from bonding with the players being away from home all together for a short period. the break up of the "monotony" of pre-season with a little diversion due to interest in the results of the tournament and the social aspect of mixing with players from other clubs. As for "progress" in such a tournament..................probably better off without it to be honest!
