Christie was probably preferred to Green because he has played for Mansfield twice and would be more "up for it". All the more curious that he didn't actually come on The funny thing was that I thought he was gonna come on at half time as all the other subs were still having a kickaround. I turned to my mate and said "It looks like Christie's coming on, he's not with the other subs". My mate just laughed and said "no, he's sitting on his own in the dugout"! Lo and behold there he was. A grown man in a pair of tights and looking like he needed a pot noodle.

Fantastic match reports and photos--well done Guys. Very testing conditions yesterday but it may be an important point. No teams are gonna have an easy day at Field Mill. I thought pitch and facilities were of a very good standard. The Mansfield Social club was also very pleasant with good atmosphere. I also had the pleasure of meeting another forum member who like myself "reads more than posts". Trust you had a safe journey back Teddgull, nice meeting you even though the Hammers are your second team

Yes first class match reports and photos, reading the reports and listening on the radio, we do seem to not be as solid at the back as we were more recently. I do think that Hodges has just lost some form and is getting beat by his man a bit to easily. It seems he is now having to just give fouls away to stop the man going past him.
It also sounded as If we were playing far to many long balls, when due to the wind etc it might have been better to play more to feet.
Blair Sturrock grew into the game and tufc01 feels we was our man of the match, maybe he will be the real difference in deciding if we go up or not. It does mean that the likes of Green and Christie and even Benyon may struggle to start games and may not even make the bench, but that is a price that may need to be paid, if by playing Blair Sturrock he gives us the best chance of going up.
I do think we need to get the defense much tighter and having Ellis I feel is the answer, both games he has started recently he has done well, yes he may have started a bit slowly in the last home game, but he also grew as the game went on.
What to do with Dsane? he can score you a goal when you need one, but there is so much else lacking in his game, while giving our players stick can never be acceptable, you can understand why some fans get frustrated by his performance on the pitch.
Looking forward to the next game, what a day its going to be, the Torquay Fans Forum Carvery, Lewis our mascot and on top of that I'm really hoping for a good game and win to make the weekend complete.

Is Field Mill all seater now? Seems a bit unnecessary to me.

Some great reports and pics fellas - cheers ! I was at the game too and agree with most said. Mansfield are no bad side with a good recent run. I think they are going through the same process of reorganisation as we did and, to judge from local radio as I headed back to Lancashire there is plenty of belief and determination. I also feared the worst when they brought on Stallard and Clare, arguably two of the best lower-league strikers around in recent seasons. Despite a couple of tricky combos I think our defence held them quite well. I was pretty pessimistic at half time but once we equalised felt sure we could go on and win it. The wind definitely played its part - quite often teams seem to play better into it, finding keeping possession easier, but not yesterday. I thought the defence stuck at it pretty well, especially Toddy. Wroe has got good vision if you ask me, with an eye for an astute pass not altogether unlike Aggy. The move when he played Carlisle in for the cross which someone should have stuck away was the best of the match. Sturrock got better and better and his goal seemed to lift him. I agree he worked well with Sills, who a lot of fans seemed to think was still off colour. However, he still headed on quite a few balls and nearly scored with a trademark one. I will be down in Devon for Kettering - can't wait but it will be a tight one, as indeed a lot of matches are going to be. I don't think the play-offs are a given - seven teams for four places ? There are a lot of 'six pointers' about and draws against play-off contenders won't be bad results it seems to me. One thing seems certain to me, any terrace negativity won't help, players should never be loudly abused during games. Everyone behind the Gulls !

Well Dave, I told you I would only ever post when something really outraged me...and lo and behold, yesterday was just such an occasion! I understand that a few "fans" objected to Bucks' comments about Plainmoor having a flat atmosphere, but was that really justification for the rabble of acne-ridden, retarded little scroats who sat behind me yesterday to sing "One man and his baseball bat went to murder Buckle"? I think not. People like that ought to be drowned at birth! They also saw fit to give Blair Sturrock (our man of the match) untold grief because his old man manages Argyle. What a bunch of demented, lobotomised C*CKS!! Rant Over

I would agree the defence appears slightly less solid than it did a couple of weeks ago, but Bucks has a tricky decision to make. Disrupt what he obviously see's as his favoured central-defensive partnership - when what they need is time to develop an understanding. Or give Hodges a break to recharge the batteries in order to be ready for the run-in. If he's committed to the Todd/Hodges combination, it might not be a good idea to break them up now, and have them trying to form a workable understanding at the business end of the season. If he does decide to make a change, i disagree a little about the best one to make too. Ellis does deserve a run in the side, and he's performed well when called upon, but i think Robbo remains ahead of him in the pecking order. When Manse is back (sooner rather than later i hope), i'd like to see Robbo moved into the position he's most comfortable.

LongeatonGull Good to meet up and have a beer in their club - not a bad place. Am working on those trips to Burton and Barrow - hope to get to at least one. Will keep an eye out for Burnley too! Another away point gained against an improving side, nine games unbeaten, Sturrock = good addition. Glass half full for me. TeddGull

I'm a bit hazy about the first match as it could well have been called of literally minutes before KO, but deffo left with the voucher for the re-arranged game I do vaguely remember some voucher issues. I think that the first time this happened, the few minutes between people coming in and then picking up vouchers on the way out again saw a lot of juveniles turn into adults, students graduate and even more remarkably pensioners reverse the ageing process. The result was that the club ended up refunding more money than it had originally taken in quite a few cases (I think you could use the voucher for the replayed game, but could claim a refund if you wanted). From then on, the club started issuing vouchers on entry if ever the weather looked a little dodgy.

""What a bunch of demented, lobotomised C*CKS!!"" Great description westhamsallie ;D Its the same lot isn't it?? Halfway line on the popside, shouting abuse whenever the opportunity arises, starting the 'C' song, giving the Weymouth supporters abuse after the game on boxing day, calling me a badger ! We all know who they are, they are looking for trouble as far as I am concerned, is there nothing we can do about it. It makes me angry just typing about them, I felt like ******** ** F**** ******up ***** their a**** when we played against Grays and they weren't that bad that night.

Not sure if was the same lot as at the Northwich match, as I don't get out much. My missus has kept the Blue Square 'highlights' on Sky Plus as it has me 'looking evil' as I told the young kn#bs to get off the fecking pitch after Dsane's goal. I don't know how she could tell as I was wearing a Northwich shop bought hoodie at the time (well, it was bleedin freezin'!).
