I'm not surprised that Toddy struggled today, I said on my opening posdt on this thread post that I really felt he needed to be rested.
The problem is that those who are fighting this terrible illness want to keep pushing as hard as they can, believing that by slowing down or even stopping, things may take over again.
Its up to those around to help and try and say that you have done so well, but please don't over do it, slow down for a while, take a break.
It was clear on Saturday that Toddy was looking weak and I do believe Bucks should have made the correct decision and say to Toddy its time for a rest.
We had Hodges to come in or even Mark Ellis who is champing at the bit to get a game and one of those should have started today.

GREAT report Capitalgulls, that was exactly the way i saw it, although far more impressively written than i could have done it justice.
I too thought Sills our Man of the Match, not only for his attacking options but also for his exploits whilst defending, in fact i thought he was our best defender today.
Robertson did have the worst game I have seen from him so far and Toddy was distracted several times by having clear up after his mistakes.
Mansell found touch more often than Johnny Wilkinson in an entire 5 nations. I was stood just behind the goal as their player went around him,he had the chance to take the ball, or the man, before he got into our box.
I think everyone knows I'm not a big fan of Dsane, but today (and Saturday) he has shown what he is capable of. One of the few who looked capable of causing them trouble. I would like to have seen him stay on.
I know he didn't have long but Green had no impact on the game whatsoever, not even a little bit.
For the 1st penalty i thought we were back watching the New York Knicks, it was so blatant. 2nd penalty was also a stone waller as well and was surprised the ref chose not book any of the culprits.
Would be interested to hear/see what went on with Carlisle after Sills was mugged for the 3rd penalty. From where i was standing (opposite end behind the goal) the ref appeared to play the advantage so that Carlisle could score, to save him having to give another penalty, yet he seemed to stop?
Felt sorry for Benyon, didn't stop chasing but that was mainly due to the poor balls lumped forward for him.
No complaints from me about the sending off, what was he thinking.
Overall a rather abject performance. A game we SHOULD have won, and COULD have won but never at anytime did I feel we would win.
Hopefully Sturrock and Hargreaves are fit again for next Saturday.

Well, after reading Andygulls' summary, he's got my vote for Man of the Match. As Capital says it was one of the strangest games imaginable and one that will be remembered but not - I fear - for the quality of play. The difference from Kettering and Burton was stark. I've become accustomed to the inconsistency of performances at this level but I'm at a loss to explain this. Others have commented on Brough today and I was amazed how he blew an opportunity he simply could not have forseen just a week or so ago. Consequently, Andy, there's a sixth A to add: anonymity. And, of course, our own angst.
Other than that I've little to add. Overall the highlights of my day were the walk up the Avon Valley (via the scenic route), spotting a man in the crowd wearing a hat which may have once belonged to a female primary teacher from Newton Abbot and seeing Adrian Foster - currently manager of Gillingham Town - get off the train at Yeovil Junction.
But, as I was sat beyond the halfway line - from our fans perspective -I will comment on the Charlie Griffin injury and say something was seriously amiss immediately the indicent occured. The looks on the faces of his team mates spoke loudly and most of the crowd quickly realised the extent of his difficulties. Yet, as Andygulls implies, this did not include all of our supporters a few of whom - I'll add - took advantage of the silence in the ground to yell "advice" to Paul Buckle. Oh dear...
But there's always hope. Bad follows good and good follows bad, eh? Let's hope for a Stevenage wobble on Saturday and - after giving Saturday's line-up a vote of confidence in an earlier posting - perhaps there's a case for recalling Lee Hodges. I'll be telling myself all week that Saturday really is another day (as will be the following Tuesday at Holker Street).

I know he didn't have long but Green had no impact on the game whatsoever, not even a little bit. It's been argued Green was "targetted" by the referee. My reading, however, was a certain lack of responsibility on the player's behalf. Would be interested to hear/see what went on with Carlisle after Sills was mugged for the 3rd penalty. From where i was standing (opposite end behind the goal) the ref appeared to play the advantage so that Carlisle could score, to save him having to give another penalty, yet he seemed to stop? That's pretty how much it looked from only half the distance away from tufc01's vantage point. I thought he was playing the advantage (although checking on the Salisbury forum there's a suggestion the linesman flagged Carlisle offside hence nullifying any advantage he may have had. Confusion also seemed to reign when our second was awarded, didn't it?). Just thought of another A for Andy's collection: Attitude (noun): behaviour pertaining to James Bittner.

I would agree Sills' defensive work was top notch today. If it means leaving one up front, though, I would rather it was not Benyon. He battled well in the first half, but it's asking too much as he is not blessed with any pace over distance. It was like a terrier trying to bite ankles rather than the greyhound we need if we're playing like that.

Agree completely about Bittner, Barton, he seemed particularly 'up' for today's game and I wish some of our players cared as much as he did about the team's performance. That seemed to echo through the Salisbury side, who definitely made up for a lack of talent (in some, not all, cases) with a superb level of determination.
Was particularly impressed with Charles Ademeno, who is on loan from Southend and would be a player I'd hope we might have an interest in next season if a striker is required. Matt Green with positive attitude perhaps??

And to the other members of the Merse mobile this afternoon, Chris Rea is still alive and well, and living near his hometown of Middlesbrough, where he is still a season ticket holder!!

Rob I have never felt we need to keep having Sills defending corners and set pieces etc, by doing so we always struggle to get a decent outlet when we get the ball back again. Thats why any team need to have good defenders who are strong in the air, Robertson has shown he normally is good at winning his headers and I also think Ellis wins his fair share as well. I would much prefer to see our forwards staying near the half way line when the other team has corners, I have never understood why TUFC teams always seem to have all our players back in the box.

It truly must've been the "Road to Hell" if you had to listen to that. ;) Any truth in the rumour certain forum members were ejected from the Supporters Club bar?

Sills is probably our best player in the air. More often than not he is our best 'defender' at set pieces. He is one person who i WANT to see back there defending corners and free kicks. Stick Dsane or Stevens, when he plays, up on the half way line but get Sills back in our box.

Certain forum members were not allowed to enter the social club, although maybe the more vociferous of those refused entry might want to comment about the 'jobsworthness' of the situation. Comments along the lines of 'we'll give you a quid and we'll own the place' were made by others

Probably due in some small part to the abuse he received from some of our 'supporters' behind the goal in the first half. After he saved the penalty i was half expecting him to run the length of the pitch to punch someone. At one stage someone asked him why he kept smacking the post, his reply was along the lines of what he would like to do to guy giving him the most grief.

It did look nasty, and serious, and you have to hope that he is OK.
