Starting with such a strong team Is prove that keeping the winning run going, is very Important to Bucks. As long as he rests some Of the main players later In the game, then I think he has taken the correct approach to this game.

Alas, Capitalgull - I'm not at the game watching us coast home operating via Blackberry - just getting the scores udated via the official text service!
Good to see Benyon score tonight, it was really unfortunate that he was injured when he looked like he was starting to hit the sort of form that many know he is capable of.

Yes thanks for the updates and what with the official site being quick off the mark, who needs the radio or TV.
Mixed feelings about tonight.
Pleased with the positive approach taken by PB. Sends out the right signals, nothing wrong in wanting to win every game. The run is great and it`s great to see us scoring and winning, long may it continue.
I do though have a few very very slight concerns.
Hargreaves & Mansell played the whole game, whilst Adams & Brough sat on the bench.
Bevan played - I may be completely wide of the mark but as I said in the Mansfield thread, he looked on Saturday like he was struggling in the pre match warm up and oddly came out very early at half time. There was a lot of discussion with KV
Sills was quoted as having a leg strain so was surprised to see him play.
Whilst PB is being brave with his short term strategy I do fear what may be around the corner in the New year and what the fringe players may think of his approach. If Brough & Adams can`t get on & Stevens only gets 10 mins in the SS when the game is safe when will they play a decent part?
Tonight was an opportunity to rest the top 3 minute men and give the likes of Green, Benyon, Stevens, Adams & Brough a good run out. I don`t really see many opportunities outside the SS to do this.
I just have to trust that PB has learnt from last season, has pin pointed what went wrong and why Jan- Apr08 and all my fears do not come to pass.

I agree with you Buster apart from on the Bevan thing - if you noticed he has been out earlier than the rest of the team in all of the home games at half-time.
It was either to get some close-range shot-stopping when he has barely been in action or to practice kicking...maybe it's just something he does? Maybe he stiffens up if he is indoors too much during half-time? Don't think it could be anything too serious or we'd be using our youth goalie on the bench....or would we!!!

Buster I have to agree with you, Bucks should have made changes when the game was safe, but like you I really did not see the need to start with Sills and Hargreaves & Mansell.
I to fear that we run the rick Of burning these players out,but also how can we expect the likes Of Green, Benyon, Stevens, Adams & Brough, to be able to come Into the team when we really may need them(Injuries etc) If we do not take the opportunity In cup games like tonights, to give them some match practice.

The prize money for tonight's win was £3,500 .... and for the competition as a whole is as follows:
Setanta Shield prize fund
Third round winners - £3,500.
Fourth round winners - £4,500.
Quarter-final winners - £7,000.
Semi-final winners - £10,000.
Final runners-up - £8,000.
Final winners - £16,000
A good run in this might influence Setanta scheduling for the financial benefit of the Club.

I see that Sills picked up a groin injury last night Luckily it appears to be minor in nature but it does bring home the argument about whether he should have been played especially if he needed to have a month's lay off for example!! Would like to see him rested for Evesham if there is any doubt about him carrying an injury into this game. The way we are playing I'm sure we could scrape a win without him!

What a thoroughly enjoyable game and a well deserved victory that could easily have been 4 or 5 nil. Its a bit late to do a match report now, but just a couple of observations and answers to a few of the questions put up on here tonight;
I was surprised initially when PB fielded such a strong side, with the only change from Saturday being Brough replacing Charran on the bench. My own take on it is that the lesson learnt from last year is if you take your foot off the gas, its very hard to get back up to speed again, so better to let momentum continue.
Whilst i hear the argument for burn out for Wroe & in particular Hargreaves, but no need to worry about the toll this game took on them, training would have taken more out of them than tonight. They were sublime, literally a 'walk in the park' they were so dominant, so in control that they barely broke sweat. The ball did all the work, Wroe's passing is consistently quite breathtaking.
Carayol was outstanding, Man of the match, and had the beating of his man, and usually the next, at will. He set up the first and third goals by beating his man and getting a pinpoint cross over for Sills, then Benyon to score and was unlucky not to curl one into the top corner himself after beating two more. He is getting better each game. The coaching is obviously working wonders and also where/how did Buckle find him??
Bevan didn't appear to be carrying an injury, mind you he only had 1 save to make. He also impresses me, its his presence, he just looks and feels right. I am edging towards him now as the preferred option, especially on this unbeaten run, with the old adage, 'if it ain't broke...' He is another one who appears to be enjoying his football. He shared a few jokes and laughs with us during the first half. Once again he came out early for the second half and had 10 minutes extra 'training/warming up' with Kenny Veysey.
This was little more than a training exercise as we were so in control. They played some quality football, often stringing together half a dozen passes, like i said before the ball did all the work, not the players. Some teams play a lot of football with little penetration,Stevenage springs to mind, but tonight we played football and penetrated at will.
I know Weymouth started with a slightly weaker side and put a couple of their usual starters on the bench and that it was 'only' the Setanta Shield but this was another commanding and dominating performance.
The best thing about it for me was the Players have that confident look about themselves, they look like they are enjoying their football, they are relaxed and have a certain swagger about them, they believe in themselves. None more so than Nicky Wroe.
Whilst initially slightly skeptical about putting out such a strong side and then maybe leaving it maybe 10 minutes to late to make the last substitutions, i have to say PB's decisions were/are fully justified. Lets do whatever it takes to keep this run going. The players/squad is benefiting from it.
All in all an excellent nights work. Bring on Evesham, and the next team and so on.....
