Well our unbeaten run is over, if you count the cup games in it, but now we need to get back to the games that really are important.
Winning the league and getting back into div2 is what the club and all the fans really want and we can get back to winning ways, this weekend against Cambridge.
Bevan will be back in goal for sure and the players who were rested, should benefit from the rest and be raring to go on Saturday. I believe now is the time to start Sills and Benyon up front together, that is if Benyon is fit after the Tuesday night cup game.

Would love to see Benyon start up front - won't happen though! Would also like to see Danny Stevens - three goals in two games - back on the right wing again. The only reason he MIGHT be playing there is because Dsane is banned! Still some fine tuning to be done at plainmorgue me thinks!

I see this game and those against Histon & Wrexham on a par with Aldershot at home last season. If we are to get promoted I think we need 4 pts against each. So for me whilst 3 pts would be great on Saturday avoiding defeat would be equally important. After a fantastic away win losing would cast a doubt over our ability to truely push on and nail promotion. I know PB goes for a win every time and rightly so, but I hope if its tied with 10 to go we wouldn`t take chances at the back. I can see Cambs nicking this 0-1. I have though identified the secret behind our great unbeaten run. It is linked to my pc. Every time I tune into a radio report we concede a goal or play badly. Tuned into Kiddie away then not again until half time against Lewes. So saturday will be spent well away from the old computer & TV until Sky at 1620 which then seems to work in our favour. buster

Strangely enough, every time I tune into a radio report on my pc the oppossing team score! Now I don't listen at all, just watch sky results thingy on a saturday and wait for the right result!

Will be a tough game against Cambridge. They found it very difficult to score goals in their last 3 games. Against York they won through an own goal. Against Ebbsfleet "on loan" Rendell scored a normal goal. In between they lost 1-0 at Altrincham.
So they have problems scoring goals but also don't concede many. I suggest to keep it tight and don't let them counterattack. Or should we go for an "all out on attack" and take a 3-0 halftime lead...

I don't reckon Danny and Elliot will start together. This is a very physical league and probably the reason why Bucks has been reluctant to play either on a regular basis. Thompson could fill the wide role, he has a more strength and has played there before with EB doing what he does best along side Tim that would be my guess. A tough game though with one of our arch rivals who would have noticed how we have to soak up a certain amount of pressure before getting the opportunity to impose our game on the opposition which seems to be the pattern of late. Last week Oxford didn't look all that bad to me and could easily have got an early goal and the whole scenario could have played out completely differently. On this unbeaten run we have definitely rode our luck at times but sheer will and determination has seen us through and full credit to the squad for that and I must say that I have rarely witnessed players who come off the bench play so well and actually add so much when given the chance. All I hope is that we can push on in the second half of the season regardless of cup competitions, there are some very strong side up around us with Histon and Burton looking the biggest threat and who's to say that any one of a large group of teams cant put a long unbeaten run. Whatever happens the squad and club are a credit to the supporters - and long may it continue.

I agree it's a physical league with little or no support from the ref or lino when things get a bit rough out there! On saying that, what's the point in putting someone with a bigger physical stature than Danny or Elliot on the field when they're crap? Put the little'ns on!

Well as for "lesser" ability, I would prefer to use "different" ability. Benyon's overcoming of his previous shortcomings have made him a more all round player, but I still think Stevens has much to add to his all round game before his obvious strong points (being able to thread passes through a needle and his shooting) are not devalued by his poor awareness of the need to cover back and his inconsistent crossing. Mind you, we have to appreciate that he never was a winger until he signed for us; therefore I still regard him as only a "developing player"

Play 4-4-2 Benyon & Sills up front hey now that sounds like a winning combination. Score Prediction 1-1. Scorer Sills. Crowd:- 2317. Will it be Poke or Bevan to start between the sticks?

After the difference made by Benyon last weekend I would be very surprised if he does not start in a 4-4-2 formation.
As Carlisle is only just coming back into contention, would also hope that Stevens starts ahead of Thompson as opposed to playing him in what would be yet another position. Maybe if we establish a good lead, he could come on for Benyon as a defensive move to soak up some late pressure.
Cambridge are very good defensively so playing the in form goal scorers of Sill, Benyon and Stevens in front of a home crowd would IMO be a good positive move. We have come a long way since we last played Cambridge with a defensive 4-4-1 in a match that many fans gave us no chance and that we just nicked with an injury time winner as Cambridge pushed forward themselves.
Wouldn't like to call the goal keeping situation but the selection could tell us a lot about what could happen next month!

jj I think it will be Bevan who will be in goal for us, he is the keeper who has played a very big part in our great run, can't see Bucks wanting to change very much, he seems lately to keep to what is working.
I do agree as I said before that Sills and Benyon should start this game and after reading rjdgull views, I think it is even more of a must.
I would go for around the 2150 for the gate figure, its near Christmas, some men will be dragged off shopping and its going to be a cold day tomorrow.

It is a real selection poser for Bucks as to who goes between the sticks, but let's face it, our historic keeper quandries of the last decade or so are deciding who the lesser of two evils is! Let us rejoice it isnt like the crap old days of having a choice between the already retired Kevin Dearden, Paul Jarvie or the terrible Ollie Goatsforeskin!! I would personally go for Bevan and keep Poke on the bench.
I'm sure that it will be Danny S and Carayol on the wings, Woods & Ellis or possibly Hodges at CB. It's a shame that It will probably to early for Carlisle to feature on the bench - he can really turn matches for us. The real question tomorrow will be whether we have TT supporting Sills from deep or have Benyon partner Sills from the start. Our fabulous run owes a lot to the fact that we have been so difficult to break-down - arguably the formation that Bucks adopted has been a huge factor, so will he stick to things as they are or will he feel that he has to let Benyon loose based on his performance against Oxford? This is going to be a hugely tough game against a team that will be keen to prove that they have the beating of us after our win back there nearly 3 months ago. They toppled our fine home record last season (and ended our record run with a bang in 1998) and think that we have a real scrap ahead of us tomorrow.
