In January, I was very excited by the signing of Adams. However, Adams has'nt really impressed here considering his past, playing at a higher level. Now, with the midfield competition of Wroe, Thompson, Hargreaves and Hodges can anyone see Adams staying for too much longer. I feel that if he hasnt started at least 10 games by January he's likely to want to move on, like he did when he was' nt getting first team football at Swindon.

I believe he may struggle to get into the team, full stop. When he came I think most seemed impressed with him, but his early promise did not come to much, in my view.
You may find come January, that P.Buckle will be looking to shift one or two players out and would be looking to bring in a few, to strengthen any weakness, he have have found in the team.
Sure Adams may well be one of them, but as you say, like any pro player, he is going to want and play games. Therefore he may ask to be released then anyway.

Adams last season was combatative but slow, easily-panicked and a very poor distributor of the ball. I just couldn't see why we persisted with him. Robertson should have been put in as right-back so Mansell could take over in his proper position. This year, I won't need to worry as surely he will have no chance of playing.

The problem with Adams is that he was injured for the early part of last season and then did not regain his place in the Swindon side. He did show glimpses of form in his initial period here but then got injured, possibly twice and was well off the boil thereafter.
I understand that he has family down here so he would unlikely want to move unless absolutely necessary! I would really like to see him regain the form he must have showed in the promotion winning sides from leagues 1 & 2. I still believe he has some part to play for the gulls but at present the jury is still out......

I agree with rjdgull that Adams may still have something to give i am just unsure as to weather he will get enough of a chance at first team football to show that.

He may have, but do you really believe he will get the chance to prove it. I don't think he will, he may due to injury or suspension, but I really think he will be looking elsewhere in January. Our team has had many good players added to it and can you really see him keeping any of them out of the side.

He did little to impress last season but he is a player with an impresive record so im still holding out for more. I think you're right though, i cant see him starting a game at the moment.

Thats often the sad part of football, when a player who has talent, gets injured and does not preform to his best, afterward. Thats not to say that he would not be able to regain the form he had shown before.
Now he finds himself down the pecking order and maybe struggling to ever get a place in the team. It may well be the case as with so many other players, that a move will get his playing career back on track. I'm sure he will not want to sit on the bench to many times, yes you still get paid, but all footballers want to be out there on the pitch.

Prior to his injuries, I felt Adams was a good addition to the squad last year. He was able to retain possession and brought others into play. He still looked crocked when he came back and was not at the races. It must have been difficult to come back into the side more or less into the frying pan of the Play Offs.
I hope it is a measure of the strength of depth of this seasons squad that fans are debating whether players such as Adams, Woods, Stevens and even Nicholson will get much of a look in this year. Whilst our starting 11 was fine last year, all Hargreaves or Adams had to do was sneeze and it meant an extended run in the side for Hockley. Like him or loath him, he just was not good enough for for any kind of role.
On the face of it, the competition for places this year is previously unseen at Plainmoor. Of course, this is only July and some of the signings will not come off - However, most of our signings are at least proven at thislevel or above.......in general fans of the clubs we bought them off have been disappointed to see them go..........or the player chose us ahead of other clubs. I simply do not have a clue as to what the squad, let alone starting 11 will look like at Histon.
Has any TUFC manager been supported in his recruitment and backroom staff as much as PB has this year?

Steve Adams reminds me a bit too much of Matt Hewlett, anotherSwindon offload who's crocked too often.

I would agree with that one hundred per cent. His track record with injuries is dreadful though and he doesn't exactly strike one as being a "natural athlete"

no sign of Steve Adams tonight at Newton, or Hargreaves for that matter. i did see Adams arrive at the ground but i dont think he was even on the bench, i know friendlies are just about trying new things and fitness but with Thompson and Wroe in midfield i feel that he could be a bit part player. he did get 45 at Tiveton but i cant see him being a starter for us, as i would pick Grevsey over him, unless Greavsey is playing center half!!!!!!!!!!

Thompson and Wroe were both good to watch tonight, not sure why Hargreaves was not playing, but then we know all about him and Paul will want to try out every possibility.
You may well find that Hargreaves will be playing at center half, not sure who the guy was playing in defense tonight, but he did look the weakest link and I would be surprise on what I saw tonight, if he was in the starting eleven.
