In this day and age and even more so when places like pubs and eating house need all the trade they can get, they really need to learn how to treat good regular customers properly.
Carol and I are not pub people but do eat out every single Sunday and ever since the Noah's Ark was refurbished into more of an eating pub than a drinkers one, we have mostly had our meals in there.
While we prefer a carvery the roast has been mostly enjoyable, only a few times I felt it was not up to the standard it had been the week before.
Today as we did last week we walked down to the Noah's, only Carol was not feeling as good as she has of late and decided she would just have some chips and get a bit of salad from the help yourself salad bar.
The Noah's had just four other customers in it, so you would think having to pay to have a chef on, plus other staff that it would do all it can to look after its customers.
My roast was served up and then Carols chips, she went to get a few lettuce leaves and a tomato and was send back with a flea in her ear, as it seems she was not entitled as she had not bought a full meal. I had but was told my roast was not a meal I could not have any either.
Carol wanted me to say nothing and I have apologised to her as she felt embarrassed, but I let them know just how I felt. We were not looking for something for nothing, or trying to eat on the cheap, there are far better value meals that can be bought in other venues in Paignton on a Sunday, if that was our aim.
My argument is why was she simply told if she wanted to have a small bit of salad then there would be an extra charge. I have calmed down now, but I made it clear I will never spend one more penny in the Noah's Ark.
We have the Parkers just as close who do a carvery, well thats what its called now the Collerton Carvery, it still has a good bar that all the drinkers who were once customers of the Noah's now drink. Simply because they charge normal prices for their drinks and not the over inflated ones the Noah's charge.
Done only to deter the drinker types in favour of those who will buy meals, sadly they can't even treat them as valuable customers.
