I'm sure Jon and Barton will be so pleased to see you put this up Leigh. I'll have a good read later

This is a little gem, isn't it?
My first thought was that it must have been Phil Purnell, the ex-Bristol Rovers player, in the oppostion side that day. But, as he would have been thirteen at the time, I guess it couldn't have been. However it's probably the Lee Rogers who went on to play for Bristol City and Exeter.
Is Jack Morrall (Watcombe Primary) the father of Steve? Les Sanders is the legendary "Pop" Sanders from Barton Junior School who was my teacher when England won the World Cup. Bill "Taffy" Cannings - an old grammar school teacher - has already been mentioned on this Forum by Jon and myself.
And I'd recently wondered about the histroy of the Bewley Cup, the local primary schools cup. It looks like it started when I would have been of an age to participate, not that I would have been good enough. I rather think us Barton boys did well in those early days.
I've also been struggling to remember the name of all the various secondary school competitions - U13s, U14s, U15s, etc. Any ideas?

Possibly not the first time Mark Loram played at Plainmoor. He played for Brixham Grasshoppers at the same time as i did, although he was a little younger than me.
I played in the side that beat Torre Trojans but I'm not sure if the side he played for might have got to the final as well???

No time to put the whole programme on at the moment, but here's a Torre Trojans team in the Torquay United Ex-Professionals Cup Final of 1974, played at Plainmoor with the presentation by Tony Boyce. I'll scan and post the rest tomorrow if possible.... It has a list of previous winners inside which will show on my scan.

Martin Powell was part of TUFC's first batch of YTS boys, alongside Loram. By then he had moved up from right back to centre forward. I think that Bristol's goalkeeper Jeffrey Lyne may have gone on to form the Electric Light Orchestra - but Dave R might put me right on that one.
