I was in Birmingham today on personal business and popped in to see the marvellous sports pavilion at Bournville, close to the Cadbury factory. I'm reliably informed it is the home of Cadbury Athletic Reserves and Bournville CC. These pictures come from Played in Birmingham, part of a superb series you'll find detailed at www.playedinbritain.co.uk

That sure is a wonderful pavilion and one I would love to go and take some photos of, but I must say I don't think there are many structures in the UK that would ever impress me as much as standing in front of Wells cathedral as I did on Monday.

I was once told that Wells Cathedral was the largest building in Somerset for centuries until the building of the Argos warehouse at Bridgwater (what a sobering thought). Yes, it's a wonderful cathedral and - as you say - the little city of Wells is a delight (did you get to the Bishop's Palace and see Mary Rand's gold medal-winning long jump distance marked out on the pavement in the square?)

Sadly we missed that, we thought we walked every where there was to walk so headed off too Glastonbury and was thinking about going to the Tor, only the park and ride bus service was not running.
So I then made the mistake of taking Carol to the Clarke's shopping village, now with a lady friend she would have been in heaven, but with he who just hates walking around shops, she found she was hurried along more than pleased her ;D

I have to warn anyone who buys the Played in Britain series of books... You'll not be talking to friends or family for a very long time as you'll be totally hooked and absorbed! If I had to take a set of books onto a desert island, these would be the ones... Absolutely brilliant. And if you buy them from the official site that Barton mentions above the copies come signed.
