Never had the pleasure of seeing the Floyd live...best that I could manage was a tribute band "off the wall" in southport a couple of years ago..although I understand the Australian Pink Floyd band are the best...
As for Roxy music, saw them at the Paignton festival hall shortly after Virginia plain had charted... what a gig! = the stage was all in darkness whilst "pride and the pain" played, then straight into "do the strand" with ferry spotlighted on top of one of the speaker stacks in a gold lame catsuit!!
Happy daze!!

Too young to have seen them in 72!! I believe that Supertramp also played there? Managed to see Queen in 74 I think and had tickets for Mott the Hoople but it got cancelled cuz Ian H had a sore throat

One of my top 10 albums and such great memories of school days. Top ten albums, not sure what I'd include but it would have to be (I think): David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Roger Waters - Amused to Death Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Welcome Back My Friends (Triple Live) Yes - Tales from the Tobographic Oceans (or Relayer, Close to the Edge) Frank Zappa - Hot Rats (or Joes Garage Acts I, II & III) The first Clash album Beatles - Help Anything by the Doors Kursaal Flyers - Golden Mile Supertramp - Breakfast in America Roxy Music - First album (or For Your Pleasure)

Sadly missed out on Roxy at the Festival Theatre and also Bowie at Torquay Town Hall on the Ziggy tour but, like Phil, I did get to Queen in 74.
Mersey - the Australian Pink Floyd are now 'huge' putting on a show that nearly matches the real thing in their prime and they charge prices similar to some of today's top bands. However, I first saw them in the mid nineties when tribute bands were virtually unheard of. They played in a bar off Fleet Street in Torquay (its name escapes me). My mate invited me along and I thought with a name like The Australian Pink Floyd it was going to be a piss-take. The show was free and they set up in the corner of the bar with a few coloured lights but they blew me away with fantastic sound and immaculate versions of the Floyd classics.
Have seen them 5 or 6 times since and they never disappoint. Have seen other Floyd tribute bands too but TAPF are the best, second only to the real thing.
Now, will have to think about those Top 10 albums.....some great choices from you, Phil & Stuart but may take me a while to come up with mine. Dark Side of the Moon and Meddle will both be in there!

Stuart, heavily influenced by Queen, Floyd and the Beatles... interesting that I would rank the first three Queen albums over your three, agree with Sgt. Pepper, Led zep iv was a one side album and IMHO, The Wall could have been condensed to two sides..Red album, yeah, like that (and the blue one) , but that's a bit of a cop-out Jazz siger, great..love the film too!
60 pence? - possibly right, but don't seem to remember many gigs costing less than a quid, even back then....

Stuart, DJ? - me too! - spent more nights on the road around Liverpool than I should have... nearly failed my degree as a result!! - Feb 1980 brought the whole rig and crew down from L'pool to do my brother's 18th at the Grand (without him knowing beforehand!!) Sadly had most of my records stolen, but still have about 700 singles , 200 LPs and three decks (one a Vinyl/CD combo) to play them on, together with a 200w PA system to annoy the neihbours and a light show for parties!!
