Not sure how relevant to Torquay United this is but thought it might stir some interest..... Well number 11 for Brixham has obviously got to be a member of the generation before of the Nuneaton player of the same name....................father perhaps? ......................and Bill Davey refereeing, surely all who remember the late Bill (who lived in Babbacombe Road) as the local area secretary of the County FA would always raise a smile at the mention of his name ~ a lovely old chap and very good to me in my time in local football/refereeing.

I wonder if the G Emmett the no 10 for Babbacombe was the cricketer who played for Gloucestershire and played once for England.I know him and his brother lived in Torquay as they played football with my dad back in the mists of time.

George Emmett would've been thirty-five in 1947 and establishing himself in the Gloucestershire side so highly unlikely it his him playing football here, although it could've been a relative as, although he was born in India, he played for Devon for a number of seasons, up until 1936 so presumably lived in the area and had family here.

Babbacombe Corries won according to the SDL website. Great to see this programme. I'd certainly like to see all sort of items relating to South Devon football in the history room.
We know from a earlier thread that Gerry Howshall was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1944 and was playing schoolboy football in Brixham in the mid-1950s. If this was his father, Gerry was possibly very young when the family moved to South Devon and may even have possessed a Brixum accent.....(Cow Town or Fish Town?).
