Well just walked all the way into town and back again, after watching our carnival. It is such a shame how they no longer are like they used to be.
Still I will always go every year to support all those, who at least make the effort. Bridgewater people are truly fantastic, I get to meet plenty due to my job, we all know how good their carnival is, but those people work so hard all year to put that show on.
As soon as it has done its rounds, they destroy every float and start work building next years.

I'm home alone in Wales but my family (wife, son 17, daughter 14, twin daughters 2, mother-in-law and father-in-law) all had a great time tonight watching the Paignton carnival. Sometimes people do not appreciate what they've got until thy lose it. I have a property in Paignton and friends of mine from Wales regularly use it and think torbay is fantastic. I left the bay when I was 18 to join the RAF. I couldn't wait to leave but i would love to come back and miss so much. thank goodness i get to come down for many weekends to watch football until Seatnata spoils my plans

I hope we never lose it and was not really criticizing it, I always give it my support, like I do most Village fetes etc.
It is a shame that fewer and fewer people take part in it and not so many turn up to support it. I was really pleased to see 7 or 8 Chinese people next to me, who own a toe nail painting shop in Paignton. They had flags waving, coins for the collections and they really put everything in to being part of it.
Shame some Paignton people, my boss is one, who cold not make the short trip into town

sorry Dave, not accusing you of criticising the carnival but red wine taking effect and missing the family who are enjoying their hols without me.
Had a great phone call from one of my 2 year old twin girls today telling me she was "on a steam train". she was so excited!!!!
Appreciate what you've got, otherwise someone else will!!

Stu, I was talking yesterday to a company owner in Barnstaple, who came to Torbay, with his large family over the weekend. He said he found it dirty, run down and he would not be retuning for some time.
Torbay is no longer the place it was, but I'm voting 92ndfish in for Mayor next time. ;D

They need to put in something before they can take out. I know the people here in the Rhondda are not used to much but they all find Paignton and its facilities great and can't wait to come back. I personally love to come back regularly but also can see the lack of investment over the years.

Don't get me wrong I love the Bay, but like many feel sad, that the very basic things that need doing, to tidy and improve, simply don't get done. We are in danger here of seeing such a great place fall completely into disrepair. I know the 92ndfish, is passionate about trying to get the Bay out of this situation, but like all of us here, we can't do much on our own.

So you are in the Rhondda valley? I had to deliver there once, came in from the top, after driving what seemed like the alps ;D ;D. It was strange as it seemed one long street for miles, but I did not know it changed names, after a while.
So I had drove past the place I wanted. In the end I stopped at a garage on the right hand side of the road and some kind youth, drove their car in front of me and showed me the place I was looking for,

You would be a welcome guest in my house in wales but perhaps you would then see what disrepair and neglect is! Since the decline of mining the vlleys hve been forgotten with some areas hving 85% male unemployment. It's a different world up here and an eye opener but still quite beautiful.

To be honest, I think even my 20 year old self could beat Nick Bye next time around, he's made so many mistakes but I guarantee the next mayor of Torbay will be in the mid to late 60's and will want no progress and just the status quo, people bought into Bye's message and it's blown up in their faces, not the fact that his message was wrong (which it's not) but about the way he's gone about it. I watched the fireworks at the Carnival, always good fun even if I have grown up now, other than that it has gone downhill a lot even from what I remember as a child, although nostalgia probably plays a part.

You may be young, but you have great ideas and you also listen, plus I don't think you would spend all day just talking about it. Its so good to see a young man, who cares and wants changes. Maybe you are to young just now, but hang in there, your time will come.
